Man shut the f*** up and let artists rock. If they continue to drop good music despite 3-5 year breaks who give a s***?

Feel like this is only a problem with people who don't listen to a lot of music. At that point it's a personal problem.

You think a artist is spending 4 years writing a album?

They’re enjoying that money they made from the last album. Let a nigga live his life.

i prefer 24 songs a year where 10 are good, 8 are great, and 6 are amazing

still get 12 amazing songs every two years

but also, two years isn’t a long wait between albums regardless

it’s when it gets to 3-4 years that whatever marginal increase in quality might occur isn’t worth it

if an artist really has the potential to make quality music, both quality AND quantity go hand in hand

artists who have to spend 3-4+ years between albums to deliver an actual good album just aren’t good enough at making music to release more often

Name your favs who drop on an annual basis.

    Do it.

    I won’t laugh, I promise.

    Name those albums

The Beatles dropped nearly 2 albums a year throughout. I know dmx had arguably his 2 strongest albums back to back in the same year. The second album taking him less than a month. Wayne at his peak was dropping classic projects with literally a month in between.

We literally watch Kanye records hundreds of tracks in a months span with a decent portion of them being Great songs. When you are in the zone it doesn’t seem to matter how much time has passed.

DMX had mental issues and spoke about how he his career and lifestyle affected his mental state.

Lil wayne literally developed a lean habit and have had two near death seizures.

Ye mental health is well known and he has had numerous public episodes.

Seems like a break between records could've and would've benefitted all three of them.

Not a Pac fan myself but

    All Eyez on Me
    Me Against the World
    Don Killuminati

All within 18 months. These are highly regarded albums that hold impact to the genre. 2 more minutes of thinking.

Out of those 3 only MATW and Don Killuminati are actually perfect albums.

All Eyez On Me in retrospect has grown to have had a loooooot of filter and a lot of guest features we didnt need. For every Meth verse there was 3 Outlawz verses. For every “I Aint Mad At Cha” there was at least 2 “What’z Ya Phone #” type of tracks.

    -an actual Pac fan

Lets get rid of OP for this terrible thread

  • Quality will always beat quantity for the simple fact the world will always pay attention when you drop.

Yes you have your rare occasions like future’s “Michael Jordan” run or Lil Wayne’s run but eventually even they slow down because as mentioned earlier, that s*** does take a toll on your health. Pac’s crazy work ethic was brought on by paranoia and depression from getting shot and being out on bail during a toxic case to a toxic label/environment that would inevitably be his downfall

As an artist, we got to stop romanticizing this “artist’s pain/working themselves to exhaustion for our amusement” type of thinking.

“if an artist really has the potential to make quality music, both quality AND quantity go hand in hand”

Yeah that’s not true. We just don’t see how many times these artist go to the line. Some niggas record 100 songs while putting 1 album together. This is why I’m a fan of the T Rex approach when it comes to recycling verses “I wrote it it’s mines I can say it” because them raps don’t just appear out of thin air. If you just trynna hear something I can give you some s*** I just whipped up or have on the side just don’t complain when it’s not the greatest because you asked for it.

this is so tucking dumb @op by that metric nickel back is in the all-timer category. why cant you just accept that people have different processes and are completely divorced from your weirdo notions about if an artist is “good enough” or not

Dmx already had issues before it and Wayne didn’t really get bad until carter 4. And with Kanye his mental health has been shot since mbdtf so it’s more about him still being able to do it. We had brockhampton dropping there best work before the deal.

Artists are people and people aren't robots so saying something like this as if it's a one size fit all algorithm based statement is dumb as hell. Niggas are allowed to take breaks and live life. They don't owe you s***

Name 10 great hip hop albums from artist this year that dropped 2 years or less ago.

i’m not referring to time i’m talking features and the output in which the music is made ppl like carti and uzi make a lot of music but don’t drop like that
