I think the easiest way to point out how rap has an overall negativity problem is how rap bars used to be:

    “WE getting money”

Then around the early 2000s it became
    “I’M rich”

    Now since about 2015, it’s
    “YOURE broke”

Like even in the basic diction rappers now use you can see a negative culture shift

I wanted to go against op but I had to stop and think, am I really mad because he’s telling the truth and I’m in denial? This is honestly one of the best threads in a minute. It made me sit down and think. A lot of people that never seen a black person in person will look at hip hop and think that of the black community. I mean you kinda see that on here. People have this image of what black people should act like or what they should f*** with.

I mean anyone who doesn’t know this s*** is dumb though. It’s funny though because Billie said that exact same s*** yet it put this whole site in Birks for like a day bro

Not at all a lot of people are just naive and they end up looking up to these rappers because of what they appear to have. The people that know a lot of rappers are fake can also have the problem of letting it bleed over on to other rappers and thinking the ones actually from something are just rappers.

At the end of the day, is the music enjoyable?

Is it connecting with the people?

    That’s all that matters.

99% of people aren’t connecting with that s***

Why do you say that? Just curious not tryna really dispute your claim

  • I remember James Baldwin said something like “I don’t know who you think I am but when so see me that’s not me you see a monster” that’s how I feel when some people be look at the hip hop community now

This thread reminded me how weird Vince Staples hate is to me and it feels like it only comes from the corniest nerds and cacs

I find it hard to believe she would be partial to hip hop if it was any more real than it currently is. She’s a pop star so it’s safe to assume she holds the same passive aggressive animosity towards hip hop as most of the other people like her.

Neither of your points make sense, music from the 90s and 2000s wasn’t just cautionary tales to educate people. It’s a feeling and always had been

Another problem with this generation in general, bro when did y’all start with this autism tier “literal” speech?

Obviously not every single song made in the 90s and 2000s was positive and not every song now is negative
