up until recently, i had not given this album a proper listen due to the irrational fear that it would not live up to Richard’s previous work…what a f***ing idiot i was. this is easily james’ most fun and playful work to date, and i especially dig the more funky/pop approaches to some of the songs. for some reason, this album really reminds me of Brat; outside of the color scheme, it’s really the squelchy and glitchy synths that got me thinking she must’ve been inspired by Aphex Twin (especially on Club Classics and Rewind).

this album was great tho, this track in particular is one of my favorite pieces of music.

I've gotta relisten to this album asap. I listen to SAW I, II and Drukqs all the time but I really need to branch out.

It’s excellent. All of his albums are great, theyre very consistent. He just has a few complete masterpieces that def hog the spotlight.

since this was your first of his, would you still rank it over some his more well regarded classics? i just love how approachable this album is

you can start anywhere in his discog and you can't really go wrong honestly. just listen to whatever looks good to you. also check out his other aliases polygon window, the tuss, caustic window, AFX etc
