You're fighting a losing battle trying to improve the taste of anything combusted, when even a s***ty vape with mid weed will taste better than gas smoked through a pipe

if you insist on smoking through a bong then the best way to preserve your flavor would be to choose a glass-on-glass bong without any percolators or slitted downstems, just a simple beaker. Get it squeaky clean, and take a snap with hemp wick instead of a lighter. That's the most you can do. And after that one bowl, it only gets worse because now you have nasty bong water and resin coating the stem/bowl fukking up the taste of every hit afterwards

You're actually destroying a lot of the sensitive terpenes by combusting so all subjective opinions aside, you are objectively tasting less of the full spectrum than you could be if you had vaped.

This extends to concentrates also, taking a scorching hot dab will murder the sensitive terpenes and your throat so let's review

the best way to taste flower is convection vaped, water pipe optional but more diffusion -> smoother, cooler hit -> less flavor so keep this in mind when choosing a bong with percolators

the best way to taste concentrates is cold start low-temp dabbed, ideally with a quartz insert, dab rig not optional and again the simpler the glass and less diffused the bubbles are, the better the flavor will be

If it’s something you’re going to have in your home and take care of it’s worth spending the money rather than going cheap.

Barring catastrophe, a nicer bong won’t break as easily and is overall better experience. Plus the convenience is crazy.

tbh they not even that inconvenient if you get a bong bag.. you can literally smoke it anywhere as long as you have a car I guess.. you just need to have water on you but literally takes way less time to setup and get High compared to a blunt or joint.. And even less inconvenient if you have your own spot.. it’s just always gonna be onyour table and takes less than a min to setup and get high..

When it comes to glass KISS (keep it simple, stupid)

showerhead percs and matrices and seeds of life w/e look really cool and make the hit a little smoother, but the loss of flavor and most importantly how impossible they are to clean make them dealbreakers

I’ve gone through 3 bongs in between the 200-450$ range and once the möbius broke we stopped buying expensive designer bongs.

I would spend somewhere between 100-150$ for your first bong. Or at the very least just make sure it’s glass on glass and somewhat thick.

Also dhgate or whatever sells fake roors and s*** for hella cheap but they take forever to ship. My friend just gets all his glass from there. tbh you’d have to be a complete weed nerd to get upset over hitting a fake roor. Most ppl won’t even be able to tell cause tbh it’s not that serious.

man y’all really overestimating how much work it takes to clean a bong.. it’s like a ten minute job and tbh it’s not like you have to clean it after every use or even once a month if you aren’t snapping the weed through the bowl and just change the water regularly.

the bowl and the down stem will be the thing you have to clean the most and that shut is easy af too as long as you have alcohol or bong cleaner from smoke shop.

I hate bongs. Such an inconvenience. Pens are the future.

Isn’t the whole point of the bong that it filters through the water? A lot of gross stuff that gets caught in the water that would otherwise be going into your lungs no? I don’t see how they could be the same

The water isn't filtering contaminants from the smoke, it's simply cooling it down. And catching the ash that falls through if you're not using a catcher.

Small bubbler pipes won't demonstrate this well but a regular size beaker filled with water will let you take a much bigger and longer rip than that same bong without any water inside.

When you pack a big bowl and milk it long enough, you can see the smoke inside start to turn yellow as it fills the chamber. The smoke is always yellow even in small amounts, but it's most visible when it condenses together like that. Now imagine that coating the inside of your lungs

Dab vapor on the other hand, will stay nice and white no matter how much the chamber is filled. There are no byproducts of combustion with a proper dab hit.
