i don't think there's anything wrong with artists being political
like you say the signs were always there
i think the worst part is he's somehow managed to focus more on politics but only in the most shallow way. his politics were more developed when he used to describe himself as 'not political'. whether you agree with where he's going rn or not, he seems to have way less social or political content then he did on never let me down, crack music, new slaves, all falls down etc. so it makes his whole transition to talking about politics feel frustratingly meaningless.
everything he says is pretty boring and unoriginal if it wasn't someone with his background in hip hop saying it. and that's not the same for everyone on the right. kanye having unoriginal perspectives is what's really sad. i can't see how he achieves anything by doing this
I liked jik but it was the same there really, maybe with the exception of follow god if you look at the actual content of the album
