was my reply in another thread but want to see what y’all think
I think Lil Baby is missing something that makes him stand out like a true GOAT.
he is killing s*** no doubt
and is lyrically so talented
but he sounds the same, on everything.
he doesnt have like a cackle or silly laugh or persona that made wayne feel refreshing on a beat.
it just sounds like another f***ing lil baby verse, with nothing really there to make it standout among the other verses he’s put out.
*daBaby has this same issue btw, but to me daBaby stands out a lil more cuz of the voice and pronounced ad-libs and s***
he just started rapping like a few years ago right?
feel like ppl pop off so fast, that we forget niggas need time to develop.
i hear you, i’m not captivated by his music, but i think he’s great for where he’s at right now and bound to become better with time
I don't see the hype about Lil Baby. I kinda started to see it for a minute when The Bigger Picture dropped but then nah.
Dude didn’t even want to be a rapper. QC turned him into one and he’s only been rapping a few years. I hear the progression in his music, but he still can improve

miss when rap was filled wit niggas that actually wanted to rap
i like him on features, but i don't listen to his own music that much. i say that because, as you said, all his s*** sounds the same. same flow, same voice, and i don't like when some of his lines bleed into the next bar that he needs to go back and record over the last few lines to start the new bar. it feels lazy.
that being said, he has no starpower whatsoever. dababy is on pop songs and that's why he's more popular than lil baby, as far as mainstream goes anyway, not in rap circles. dababy's flow is charming, even if it's the same on everything too.
i'm not a fan of a lot of rappers' early work, so hopefully he develops
Just peeped a few songs on YouTube and every song got that same monotonous flow and he over-raps my ears. What happened to timing, enunciation and sequencing?
I think most new artists have a sound they stick too nowadays. Probably due to streaming idk
i dont really get how hes that popular tbh
we went from Lil Wayne to Lil Baby
miss when rap was filled wit niggas that actually wanted to rap
All about the $$$$$
miss when rap was filled wit niggas that actually wanted to rap
Lol the talent was not noticeably different back then
