ehh sorta, I think the distinction would be that the stuff Kanye has been doing isnt stuff that we dont need to pay attention to.
Like Evangelical christians being mad at twerking on satan or whatever and being covered on fox news feels very much like an entirely manufactured controversy vs Kanye being openly anti semetic. I dont think those are the same thing.

But Kanye's antics from his early career to about 2019 to get attention with merch designs, music videos, interviews, the MAGA hat, etc. are all things meant to cause reactions and media controversies. It's all provocative and often very disconnected from even the art he's putting out.
LNX is replicating that but, if anything, I think he ties it into the thematic elements of his music in a good way.
