That babymetal was experimental but that like the bmth song was given almost totally done to Uzi. On top of that it's 1 of 3 heavier songs on there. A varied album definitely. But experimental? FOH

what do u take experimental to mean?

i always thought experimental meant experimenting with s***, yk like doing stuff that isn't conventional for the genre, or doing stuff that isn't conventional for the artist in question. to me, covering chop suey and making songs w actual rock bands isn't conventional at all for rap, or for lil uzi, so i say it's experimental.

what's ur understanding of that label tho?

I feel like a big part of this is also the full extent of the label - "experimental" vs "experimental album"

Those handful of songs, in my opinion, certainly are experimental as far as Uzi's body of work is concerned, but 3 or 4 unique tracks like that don't make it an experimental album by any stretch of the imagination, especially when it's as big of an album as it is.

When you've got a 26 track album, and only like 6 of the songs could really be considered unique/experimental at all, I think at most I'd call it an ambitious body of work, but the majority of the project is still pretty safe imo

i agree w u on that, there's a lot of songs that aren't experimental at all

but idk there's a lot of weird songs too lol. i think it being such a long album makes this tricky, there's enough there to form two separate albums, one completely normal and the other totally experimental.

Yeah if he had dropped an album with just the rage and rock tracks interspersed together, then we definitely could have looked at this as something pretty distinct and unique

As it stands it does feel a bit like an album by someone who wants to try and have his cake and eat it too - he wants to appease fans of the "old Uzi," he wants to touch base with the vibe that Carti kicked off on WLR, and he also wants to push into the rock scene that he's such a fan of.

There are definitely admirable moments imo, but it's all over the place

i worked as a recording engineer for a few years, i saw my fair share of rappers. none of them could do flows or melodies like uzi 🤷‍♂️.

and the ones that got close couldn't go a full song without saying some s*** that made me cringe.

uzi sounds effortless but trust me s*** is not easy
