That tweet was so crazy to me cuz like how do you see 25 as old head status Lmao
Internalised ageism. Just a byproduct of our capitalistic system and quest for endless growth at all costs, even if at the expense of human mental health.
Jay was making songs like Supa Ugly in his 30s...I'm not sure he's the greatest example of maturity in rap. Look around at the rappers over 30 and they be saying and doing a lot of dumb s*** just to keep it relevant n uphold the image they crafted in their youth.
Supa Ugly was a diss record in response to Ether, he also had introspective and mature s*** in his 30s as well, and a lot of rappers best work has dropped when they were in their 30s too
When folks on here don't provide context to what they're saying cuz they have a narrative to push it's hilarious
The funny part is he wasn't even that far from 25 when he tweeted that.
makes it even crazier
Yachty won. It's over. We should all just get flowers in our hair, golden grills and nails painted. I'll go first

What's the context I'm out of the loop

peep my post above that one, it was about the Jay Z / rappers in their 30s discussion

Oh yea you right. I think it's partly because the SoundCloud rappers made youth image a part of their identity so naturally as they got older they had to find a new selling point. Jay Z never came in with that angle so his foundation was solid.

No f***ing s***. Everyone knows the context. It doesn't mean it wasn't immature as f*** and something that a grown ass man, or anyone, should have been making for that matter. As hov himself basically copped to..And there was plenty of misogynistic and dumbass records Hov was making besides that. As well as missing with his content on later records like BP3 and MCHG. It doesn't mean he didn't make some great and thoughtful s*** also. But the point was trying to keep up in rap does lead to a lot of rappers making dumb s***.

The context matters here because Supa Ugly isn't really indicative of Jay's output at the time vs the crisis Uzi seems to be going through. Hov made dumbass records but he also made great and thoughtful s*** vs Uzi trying to recreate his 2016/2017 run.
The point a lot of folks in the thread was making is that Uzi doesn't have to keep up he could just evolve and stop letting s*** get to him like it always does

It seems like a lot of rappers from that generation didn't come in with that angle. It feels like a recent development
I can’t wait til the next Carti era when y’all realize Carti is a hack like Uzi tbh
calling it right now. Y’all gonna realize it was smoke and mirrors and aesthetic just like Uzi was
was gonna say I love a fake retirement but the sentiment of pursuing normalcy in your life is something I can sympathize with
I don’t necessarily think retirement. I think he just wants time to grow and realize his age. I think he comes back with some of the most lyrical bars we’ve ever heard. I say 5 years. He will find inspiration. Artists never really retire. I hope the best for him.

i feel like theyre taking a break vs a real retirement

I'd say Pink tape was successful and Just wanna rock one of his biggest songs . Crisis seems an exaggeration
If bro wanna make 1 more album then get out of here at 30 idk how you can criticize him. Let's leave Hov aside, there are plenty rappers older than Uzi still making the same type of s*** they've always been making and shown no evolution or even tried.

When I say crisis I'm talking about how Uzi perceives their career. Uzi lets others convince them that their s*** is wack / flopping so they start dropping deluxes or whatever, downplaying the last release and hyping up the next.
If the retirement is genuine then it's no shade, but everything as of late seems like it's been reactionary as if Uzi feels a lot of pressure to do so

It's a good sentiment but I don't think it's sincere
Nah this is crazy why does that have them so shook
lol idk I think at most artists' concert if they announced mid-performance that they're going to stop releasing music in the near future, it would result in a big reaction like that one
Uzi has put out hella music and has been in this s*** for almost a decade. They deserves to bow out and try to find some normalcy, whatever that looks like to them. 30's still young. Well wishes

?? When I say "them" I'm referring to Uzi, bro been going through it lately
