I legit don’t understand why this had to be about high school at all, MV added nothing to the song (I thought maybe a story or sumn would be told through the visuals kinda like Ps & Qs). Make the song about getting super high and love so the double entendre is still there and it’s not like it’s amazing or anything but improves the quality overall. Uzi fetishizing high school and being like 16-18 is starting to get to me. The criticism has always been there that he needs to act his age (which I don’t agree with really) but this is like pandering at this point to the newer gen since they arnt already sold on him and the older fans are gonna stay regardless (any iffy ones left after EA for sure). Just a bizarre release and man the more I listen the more generic it feels. If he’s making this more pop move he really needs to commit to making it with his own unique sound instead of this s*** man, I have no interest in banging a full album of generic pop tracks from Uzi ever.

    No Diddy

Song’s not bad. S*** is definitely a basic pop song. Second half is decent.
    It’ll grow on me.
I think it’s dope when an artist experiment with sound and different genre of music.
    I’m all for it.
If anything Uzi always been experimental.
I’ll rather have a artist try different things instead of sounding one dimensional
    Like Meeky mouse.

Idk man, LIR2 was his first foray into making like high tier pop songs (like The Way Life Goes) and I just feel like they had way more personality than this. Uzi always been super melodic so this isn’t a new move at all, it’s almost regressing to try for a broader appeal and it’s missing the key element that makes his music unique. Just feel like this song in particular is a backwards move but I wouldn’t mind him making a more poppy album if the song quality is better and his own unique Uzi sounds make it in.

yeah man the high school s*** is a little cringe

like you're allowed to act and feel young but maybe just acting like a young but of legal age adult, not a child

thought the track had some nice melodies tho and its gonna blow up on tik tok so i guess the tape wont get shelved

I agree. I think him and his team is playing it very safe with this single. Hopefully we’ll get some higher tier songs on the album.

We will see, Uzi hate is the new wave man, and the younger gen (who this is for) is way more susceptible to ride the hate bandwagon than some of us longer term fans who are older and not just jumping on the bandwagon.

Its generic. Kid Laroi or Iann Dior could make this exact same song. There are very little Uzi-isms or anything to make it stand out or be unique. Uzi usually has a way to interesting lyrics into his songs but the most obscure type of bars we are getting here are about Rick furniture and a Ryan Sheckler reference. And if anything people absolute want the Uzi melodies back, all his big songs have had the crazy good melodies, these are just common ones. It isnt cringy but like idk the lyrics are so simple its kinda embarrassing that way. At a minimum, it sounds fine, beat has a nice progression, it sounds polished structurally but idk thats not why I like Uzi primarily. Someone said this sounds like a Juice WRLD B side and 100% agree. My personal favorite type of Uzi songs are not his straight catchy hit type songs, and while I generally like them, this just doesnt seem like it has any staying power to me since this exact lane and sound has been flooded for the last 3 years, I think people are getting sick of it.

  • him getting on a melodic wave will only do amazing things for the next project esp since EA was nearly entirely rapping

uzi lyrics have always been simple lol this a good single choice pop punk wave coming back into the light this isnt anything like kid laroi

I think this is probably my best example to point out why Demon High is disappointing. This song is also very catchy, polished but does eveything else better. The beat is much more interesting, the lyrics tell an actual story, there is way more Uzi in this song, the melodies are crazy, the verses are much more engaging. The MV also takes place in a school and just executes so much better. Its just like when you know he is capable of this, why accept what we are getting now.

Simple sometimes, IDK people don't listen closely all the time, he can have really generic bars but the emotion and storytelling he does, with the way he puts it together generally is why those songs shine to me when they are more simple. And this song is so simple its just missing anything that makes this an "Uzi" song. I 100% think any other melodic rapper could make this exact same song and itd come out damn near the exact same. Uzi was a trend setter to some degree, and even when he wasnt he was moving onto more experimental or interesting variations of what is popular. This is just what is popular without the personality, and obviously it makes sense, it just doesnt make it something I want to listen to on repeat or play for a long time. Super safe, which to me has never been Uzi's brand, its just disappointing.

i get it i feel like luv is rage 1 is probs uzis peak artistically his recent couple releases EA and the future collab were both pretty puddle deep artistically i really do feel that demon high is at th every least a good direction for him to be going in which will hopefully build up to a wider vision with the entire tracklist as context

I mean dont get me wrong, I think a more melodic/pop project is a great direction, it highlights some of his biggest strengths, I just want the quality of the songs to be better than this and to actually have some personality. Long as this is just the crowd pleaser type song to try for a hit and the other songs quality is there I'm excited for it.
