Typed out my thoughts after weāve sat this for a while but idk if I wanna post them itās long asf
do it pls, your opinions are a great addition to this site
After sitting down with this I can honestly say only 12 songs actually have replay value everything else is just ass and not helping the albums longevity at all so I just split it into 2 discs and it flows way better
I feel like the pacing of the section from All Alone to Werewolf is off. Not that every song in there is bad. Most are good but it just doesnāt really flow together like that as a listening experience

I feel you I put that whole section in the 2nd disc
Lmaoooo
wasnāt even ironic lmfao i like you fr but i can see how it may seem like that lol

Long ass post incoming then ā¦ š
Flooded the Face ā Decent opener with some funny bars & a hard beat but is his weakest opener when compared with Two & Baby Pluto.
Suicide Doors ā Really strong track that feels like an extension of the rage sound that WLR helped popularise without biting. Great verses & energy from Uzi, love the guitar and love the Arca production. Just a shame they didnāt do this years ago considering they always associated themselves with a rockstar aesthetic.
Aye ā Still crazy to me that this track survived from 2021 until the final tracklist. Really uninspired, shallow attempt at a rage song (I think BNYX even admitted it was directly inspired by Go2DaMoon). Gets stale very quickly especially considering itās been played since 2021, Travisā autopilot feature fails to revive it.
Crush Em ā Really good track, interesting detailed production with a super catchy flow & hook from Uzi. Kind of quality Iād expect from an Uzi album.
Amped ā Conflicted about this track, because on one hand, Uziās vocals sound AMAZING. They shift their voice all over the place and sound psyched out. Vocally, might be the best theyāve sounded in years. However, the beat is fairly generic, feel like if you typed in āyeat wlr rage beatā on YouTube youād get a thousand of these.
X2 ā The most interesting ārageā-inspired track on here, that beat is insane and like Suicide Doors, it feels like an extension of the sound rather than just emulating it. Uziās verses & hooks feel unfinished but in a positive way, he bounces off the beat well and the whole song is just a major banger.
Died and Came Back ā Strong track, I really like Uziās verses as they have some great quotables. The rigatoni is not spaghetti chorus is quite clumsy though. Also this beat just feels like Final Fantasy 2 but not quite as epic, still enjoyable though.
Spin Again ā F***ing banger lmao loving this track, so catchy and unique, no complaints other than it could have been another minute longer.
That Fiya ā Have now warmed to this song, didnāt enjoy it initially but the beat & Uziās vocals are both psyched out and it hypes you up. The Sasuke-inflections & ad-libs are dope just wish the verses were a bit more memorable.
I Gotta ā One of my favourites from the 2020 lives so happy it made the final cut. Good track, the hook is catchy, and Uziās verses are decent. The production is a bit dated now in 2023, but I like that it sounds like an old Chief Keef beat. Probably should have landed on Red + White rather than the album but glad we have it anyhow.
Endless Fashion ā Love this track so much honestly like top 5 to me aha. Get the negatives out the way first ā¦ Okay sure the Blue interpolation in the melody is pretty trashy. But even so, Uzi & Nicki bounce off each other so well, Nickiās outlandish bars fit the project well, and Uzi sounds so good, some of his best technical rapping across the entire album. Really fun song overall.
Mama, Iām Sorry ā Good song, although I hate the Gotye & Chief Keef interpolations Uzi does, totally unnecessary and creatively redundant. That hook is still gold though, wish he updated his verses since when we first heard it in early-2021 but oh well, melody is still great shoutout BobbyRaps.
All Alone ā Was never a fan of the snippet but honestly very glad it made the album. Not doing anything new per-say, but is just a fun, colourful classic Uzi tune; no complaints I really enjoy it.
Nakamura ā Crazy song, the sample is so cool and unique, album-quality Uzi. I feel like this was the outro of the album at some point.
JWR - CLASSIC.
Fire Alarm ā See this is the GOOD kind of experimentation that Uzi should be chasing, demonic rave music, love his vocals here even if the verses are a bit weak. Cannon killed the production on this, Snow Stripper feature is great, Justice sample is bonkers. Just wish that there were more songs that harnessed this kind of energy on the record, I feel like this could have gone back-to-back with Headcrack.
CS ā How tf did this make the final cut? Like fr, Cannon & Uzi make such a big deal out of ensuring the tracklist is perfect yet this garbage slips through the net. Not even going to push this as creative or experimental because it is a straight-up bad cover. Whatās frustrating is I know Uzi has more rock songs in the vault, yet they selected this bit of bad karaoke to make the album.
Werewolf ā BMTH are my favourite band so I really enjoy this track. Itās basically just a good BMTH song, Uzi unfortunately doesnāt really add anything to it and his vocals are mixed too low to make himself heard. Feels like a faux-paus, surface-level attempt at adding another rock song on the album, I wish Uzi had a larger presence on it.
Pluto to Mars ā Fun track, good chorus. Same feelings towards this as I do All Alone, classic Uzi vibes really so I enjoy it even if it is a bit stale by 2023.
Patience ā Beautiful, soul-touching track, was my most anticipated snippet and it really delivered. Peak melodic Uzi and Donās backing vocals enhance the vibe of it. Plus the subject matter makes it feel very heartfelt, Uzi is speaking from a personal place which is great to see.
Days Come and Go ā Decent track, I enjoy the introspection, but the chorus is a bit clumsy and the beat isnāt doing anything particularly interesting. I really like the first minute though.
Rehab ā Unlike Flooded the Face being his weakest intro, this is his strongest outro (discounting The End idc). Amazing song, creative wavy alien beat, and Uziās rapping from his heart, wish the album had this kind of quality from start-to-finish.
The End ā Cool ending to the Pink journey, and a surprising way to conclude.
Ultimately when I saw that it was going to be 20+ tracks I forgot the idea of it being cohesive, I knew it was going to be all over the place stylistically and thematically; and it certainly is. EA was contrastingly, very cohesive, so Iām willing to forgive Pink Tapeās fragmented composition because I get the feeling Uzi went into this with the intention of exploring new sounds ā plus I guess it does tie into the whole notion that this is essentially a mixtape that mutated into an album. I still think Uzi struggles with quality-control and tracklist selection, like what yes men sat around them and were like āoh yeah that Chop Suey cover needs to be on the final albumā lmaooo.
My issue with the experimentation though that, for the most part, itās kind of half-hearted. You have moments of real creativity (Fire Alarm, Rehab, Nakamura, JWR), but then you also have instances of creative bankruptcy (CS, the interpolations on Momma, and letting BMTH just run the show on Werewolf). Although Uzi matches them vocally, I donāt find the ārageā songs on this particularly compelling because Lil Uzi Vert doing rage music in 2023 just seems redundant. Like we know he can kill those types of songs when we heard him on Yeats stuff, so to get more of it on his solo project isnāt appealing to me.
Maybe if you listened to strictly hip/hop would these moments be exciting, but most of this site doesnāt. And as such it comes across as shallow, and indicative of an artist who is having a bit of an identity crisis. As rayray said a few pages back, Iām struggling to know exactly what the Lil Ui Vert sound is in 2023ā¦ Maybe thatās the point idk?
Uzi is capable of so much that sometimes I think it works to their detriment, a lot of you guys complained about too much straight-up rapping on EA, but then someone like me really felt its absence on Pink Tape. Their capable of so many different styles and sounds I think it makes it difficult to a. Please the fanbase and b. Streamline an album. I think Pink Tape was a pretty good attempt at a. but point b. suffered as a result. Donāt want to end on a negative, because honestly this project is so much fun and I have no doubt that some of the parts I donāt enjoy currently will grow on me. Just wanted to put my thoughts out there since Uzi is my favourite artists of all time, and I think heās always just slightly one-move away from a magnum opus, classic albumā¦ They just need to stick the landing

spot on abt most stuff, funny how that fiya grew on you exactly like it did on me lol. I donāt really get your take on x2 tho since it sounds way more like a fun track than a WLR type sound song imo, one of my favs fs.
Overall i think he couldāve done way better by keeping this shorter, cause i love at least half of the album. But uzi never really was that type of artist to me, never had a project without misses imo. So as a casual fan this is perfectly fine with me cause i got way more than enough songs that iām prolly gonna listen to for a long time. The wasted potential is insane tho cause he lowkey got it in him to make that undisputed classic 14-18 song album. Heās just not built for that imo, maybe also mentally not stable enough lmfao.

Agree with most all of this except I really love the Amped Up instrumental lol. Best song on the album for me
Edit: Meant to quote Paddyās post
I also donāt mind CS for some reason lol although it def couldāve been replaced with a better song

Yeah sorry I didnāt mean to frame x2 in those terms, itās nothing like WLR, just meant itās a kinda rage song produced by Ken Carson but it very much takes a fresh angle on the sound, really good & unique track
Also yeah, I donāt think Uzi is mentally stable enough to lock-in and focus like that, this album is like him, all over the place

Fair fair, instrumental feels a bit generic for me but donāt get me wrong I love Uziās performance on it, the energy is amazing
