The Young Money rapper appeared on New Orleans radio station Q93 in an interview with Wild Wayne shared on Monday (Aug. 26), and confirmed that his long-awaited Funeral project is on the way.
"I'm not sure. I wouldn't count it out but the Funeral is my next album," Wayne told the host when asked if we would ever get Tha Carter VI. "I'ma be dropping that by the end of the year."
He then gave an update on where he's at with the album's completion.
"Wayne, you know how I work. My album's always done; it just takes Mack Maine to come in there and wrap up a couple songs and name them," Tunechi said. "That's how it go around here. I work every day, so, it just takes them to come in and say, 'Let me get these 20 songs. Can I have these?’ and they name them and then we go from there."

It’ll be his first collection of new, timely music in at least four years, and he says his recording process has changed drastically since his prolific mixtape days.
“I love the difficulty of trying to fit in with what’s going on today, making sure I sound likable to the ears today and having to remind myself that it’s not about what it was back then. Going to the studio now, for me, is awesome. I used to go to that mufucka and do 12 songs a night. Cut a beat on, I’m going to go and you let me know when to stop,” Wayne says.
“It’s different now. I can’t wait to get in the studio now every night, just to see what I can come up with. Before it was just me going to the studio and saying, let me kill ten more songs and then I’m going to go home or do whatever I was doing. Now, it’s let me see what I come up with. Self-discovery, rebirth – call it whatever you want to call it but it feels awesome, I swear to God.”

Yeah. I liked those two projects a lot. They definitely restored faith in Weezy for me.
I went to the latest tour and a physical album came with the tickets.. I chose Funeral and now 6 months later I just received the new Blink 182 album in my mailbox... if it was close to coming out I think they would have waited

So did he announce a release date or not
semantics
No. If a release date is not announced, there is no album.
“Coming soon” “this year” “in a few weeks” are all lies.
You’re smarter than this.
