when we start talking about the goats, international appeal has to be a factor we consider, whether you like it or not
Not really
K pop is a direct biproduct of the influence of western culture.
The biggest Latin artists are from PR & DR which are considered part of the the west.
Anime characters all look like people from the west for a reason.
Bollywood isn’t particularly big outside of the region save a film or two every couple of years.
Of course it exists elsewhere but pop culture and media is grossly dominated by the west.
Really? The DR and PR are considered the west? They sure as s*** dont get treated like western countries
Didn’t he just say missy was the goat? Feel like he call everyone the goat lol
It's hard for him to pick one because he himself is the true goat
you can say i’m wrong in saying hov’s international appeal doesnt match up to that of the rappers i mentioned, thats acceptable
but to say its a brain dead take that international appeal should be a factor when considering the goat is just flat out delusional
Jay himself would agree with that take
It shouldn’t be a part of what makes you the greatest. You should consider the beats and lyrics and his catalog. S*** DOOM is apart of the greatest but he probably doesn’t have a lot of fans internationally but I mean I don’t really know.
Yeah, i've heard stories throughout the years that Jay-Z never wanted any of the artists on his label to be bigger than him. DMX and LL Cool J even told the story that Jay would do his best to keep certain artists from shining brighter than him.
I'm glad Wayne never signed over there.
Mixtape Wayne never happening,YMCMB never happening and C3 not getting the budget or push it needed sounds disastrous. Wayne also had heavy love in the south of course, because of the CMB brand. Signing with Jay and betraying CMB would've killed some of that support.
Basically,it would've made 0 business sense for Wayne to join the ROC

The real loss is that we would've never gotten Curren$y as we know him today.
luckily no one cares what people outside the US think about hip hop
What about canadians☹️
what % of this site’s user base is based in the US in your estimation?

Exactly, the CMB/Wayne connection helped him alot as far as the industry goes. Spitta already worked hard af for his lane, couldn't imagine him having to work even harder. I don't know what exactly Spitta was doing before CMB.
I don't wanna say he was still signed with No Limit cause i think that ended a good time before the CMB deal.
Jay created the rap mogul blueprint and Drake followed it and honestly improved upon it. Drake has really had the most perfect rap career
You aint lying
Y'all went too hard on the guy for likes and lols, he was having a honest discussion, sometimes y'all look like some kids trying to bully someone
humble goat

But the rappers you named basically are nowhere near the GoAT conversation for other factors
You mentioned 50 and Snoop lmao
It doesn’t matter if they are big where you’re from, they aren’t even top 20

Gonna end up making the site less attractive as time goes on,trying to turn a nerdy music discussion forum into a toxic HS/College campus is beyond me. If you don't like the convo, agree to disagree and move on.

Pretty much agree in most ways, I hope someone improves on drake next tbh
The only thing not perfect about Drake’s career has been the inconsistent quality of albums
If someone could run it like him while dropping classic albums consistent that would be crazy
Maybe drake will actually do it in the next 10 years. It has been a rough 6 years tho I gotta say
12% australian is insane tbh
nah i refuse to believe 1 out of 8 users here are from the land of kangaroos there’s just no way

Discography wise ofc Jay is better but I wouldn't be surprised if Snoop pulls a bigger public than Jay in a lot of places. He is a living legend as much as Jay

He’s a living legend and that may be true
But what I said stands
F*** discography just rapping
Snoop is like the lowest legend in factors like lyrics too
He is never in the conversation for top 10 so to even mention him in a goat convo is hilarious

Snoop is definitely the greatest all around entertainer to ever grace Hip Hop,but as a rapper,he's never been a considered a GOAT of any kind,I'll agree with that. He's voice and flow is iconic tho.
