I wonder what the reception would’ve been like if it was called The Carter III: Rebirth planned. Like lowkey this is a carter lol

C3 Rebirth was going to be a strictly rap album though, a stylistic continuance of Tha Carter III just made in late 08 to 09

they just took the Rebirth part of the title for the rock album they're not related besides that

Nah the whole point of calling it “Rebirth” was that it wasn’t a continuation of that sound it was something new. If you have anything to back that idea up then maybe I’m misremembering but I remember very well when the title still had Carter in it I knew it was a rock album

as far as I understand even though people understood Wayne f***ed with rock bc of the Leather So Soft music video, him f***ing with the Jim Jones/Juelz rockstar wave, & playing it at live shows, no-one anticipated he wanted to legitimately make a real rock song until leakers leaked Prom Queen which may have preempted him to come forward that he wanted to do a whole rock album

you'd say it was gonna be rock when it was called C3 Rebirth because people would still run with the older idea even though Wayne's camp made it clear it wasn't related to C3 at all, unlike the original plans for a reissue (rebirth) of C3 that was cut short altogether once Prom Queen hit the internet
