Obv I know Drought 1, 2 and 3 are official projects

but are the drought is over just the names of the compilation projects of all the leaked material wayne had at the time?
or was it a planned project that got scrapped

Back in those days people commonly did mixtape releases through or with DJs

Wayne was so popping at the time that people would do anything to listen to new music

Combine both of those and you get the Drought is Over series

“The Empire” was a mixtape DJ who got a hold of a s*** ton of exclusive unreleased material and compiled them into mixtapes before releasing (leaking) them. He slapped his DJ tags throughout the project and released it to the public. A lot of the songs were from C3 sessions making Wayne have to change his album multiple times

Basically imagine Carti WLR leaks but instead of individual songs someone made a whole mixtape out of it before leaking to the public and put their tags all over it

Without Drought is Over we probably wouldn’t have heard songs like Something You Forgot and such. Those leaks helped make Wayne who he is today. Not to mention the tracklist we got officially for C3 is due to it being changed so much from Drought is Over series leaking all the songs

Wouldn’t the songs just have gone in the album? I feel like songs like Something You Forgot are definitely meant for an album. And Wayne was very angry with the Empire leaking his s***.

I don't think Something You Forgot, I Feel Like Dying, Diamonds and Girls, Help, wouldve ever got cleared for release

I Feel Like Dying for example was sampled illegally by the producer. The original song creator sued Lil Wayne (WHEN THE SONG HADN'T EVEN BEEN RELEASED..). In turn Wayne sued the producer for selling him beats with illegal samples

Some of these songs just would have never seen the light of day
