he's basically seasoning an unseasoned genre
That’s a wild statement but a lot of this 2000s psch rock is a dish-watery turn off to me in a way the Yachty album just isn’t
The melodies are truly great, song for song for song
I feel like Tame Impala is just as derivative of its influences as Yachty is of Tame Impala
I dont get the tame impala thing other than theyre both psychadelic rock and that seems to be the de facto choice of rock for mainly rap fans

Yeah… I dunno, I‘m not much of a fan so it’s hard to say
Pink Floyd for sure, but it’s not consistently like that
It has a variety of sounds, and an incredible flow to it

he's doing psych/funk/disco with poland vocals/rapping, might not be impressive to some ppl, but i love it personally
Lil Yachty: I love that. … By the way, I was snubbed on a Grammy nomination today
Audience claps.
Lil Yachty: What the f*** is y’all clapping for?
Tierra Whack: Let’s talk about it.
Lil Yachty: I said I was snubbed. F*** y’all. Y’all supposed to boo.
Audience boos in solidarity.

let's take a shot to that
yachty cosplayed as a flint rapper for years and then started making tame impala and pink floyd cover songs.
yachty been jacking styles the last 5-6 years. stop it
but he’s right in that hip hop is missing something to where no one on a mainstream level will call him out over this at all let alone over a beat lol

That’s what I was saying
It’s the Poland vocals that make it sound fresh and innovative
You either f*** with it or you don’t

he said people copying eachother when he one of the main culprits
not really visuals nicked from wes anderson and his last album was riffing off wsg and the one before that NERD
But who else is doing that type of s***? By that standard no rapper is boundary pushing and you agree with Yachty.
IGOR is not all NERD, CMIYGL is not all Griselda, it’s influenced by them but are mostly Tyler and his personality.
All his vids from the beginning are Wes Anderson? That’s hard to believe. They’re not even the same style, unless he just bit each and every one of his movies for different videos.
yes and no. his first 2 albums stood the test of time imo and i definitely wouldn't classify it as "fast food" as a whole, maybe a few songs here and there, but it had enough of a unique identity to set itself apart from his contemporaries and has a significant place in the "soundcloud era". even to this day yes he makes some fast food music but he's also done poland and lets start here. i can see why ppl dont fw his music, but to deny his impact isn't fair
If Lil Boat is unique than by that standard a lot of rappers he called “fast food” are unique. Opium not unique? Uzi? Lucki? Yeat? all make better music too.
If I died rn I’d make the news in my community and an entire department of my local govt would dress up in fancy clothes and give heartfelt speeches on my behalf. Hundreds of lives I touched would mourn. Flags would be at half mast. Can you say the same?
he's basically seasoning an unseasoned genre
he using even less spice and seasoning than the caccs
The people who like it admit it takes inspiration from Pink Floyd, this is old news
I just personally think the instrumentation is super interesting, and throwing an autotuned Yachty into the mix totally recontextualizes the whole endeavor
they don’t get it g it’s cool it’ll be on they list soon
But who else is doing that type of s***? By that standard no rapper is boundary pushing and you agree with Yachty.
it comes off like a college student trying to recreate their fav art it’s tacky. no one else does it cos it’s not good
I’m still surprised that yachty album hasn’t grown on some more of y’all
But it’s good, it’s clear
