Tripped to this couple days ago, was insane.
Maybe he was tryna appeal to highschool kids on purpose but if this dropped while I was in high school I would have loved it, but the subject matter leaves a lot to be desired for me personally
This is like the "Cobra Kai" of albums to me, this is better than it has any right being.
It's just a matter of me realizing if what I like about this album has anything to do with Yachty.
Don’t ask no questions on the ride
2023 and niggas still think Tame Impala is a band
it sort of is yeah kevin does all the work in producing writing arranging but like when he performs his s*** live he needs a band also has people coming in playing drums etc. it’s the same thing with bon iver
6.0

This just shows how out of touch Pfork is.
Someone stanning Tame Impala gives that vibe way more than someone stanning a genuinely great and innovative record like Let’s Start Here
what is innovative about Let's Start Here my nigga.
And I'm neutral on the album after listening to it but you gonna have to explain in detail what is innovative about it lol

He has someone else doing the drums while he's recording? Always been giving credit to Kevin Parker for Tame Impala's drums
I thought it's only live where he gets other people to help. If that's the case, Tame Impala is a solo artist imo

yeah innerspeaker and lonerism had niggas playing drums or bass guitar however the slow rush and currents is all kevin

Crazy, It Isn't Meant to Be has some of my favorite drums ever and I always thought that was Kevin Endors Toi, Apocalypse Dreams and Mind Mischief too. I need to look up credits and find out who did those

tbf his best album for me is just all him but mind mischief not being all him a bit heartbreaking

The Poland vocal effect feels pretty innovative
I know other artists like Bon Iver or Alex G have used autotune but the specific juxtaposition of the instruments with Yachty’s vocal approach / delivery / lyrics feels pretty innovative
How many psych rock albums have you listened to where a guy who sounds like Cleveland Jr. is autotune crooning on it? Lol
The album art feels innovative as well

Alex G walked so Lil Yachty could run

Kevin does 100% of the music by himself. Its only a band when he’s performing
I think it’s sort of s***ty of Pitchfork to take what Yachty said and then present it in the worst faith possible to make him seem like some sort of race traitor

Yeah, this is what I thought and why I said Tame Impala isn't a band. According to Wikipedia even Innerpeaker and Lonerism have very minimal instrumental work from other people I'd still categorize Tame Impala as a solo artist, assuming those credits are accurate
