The producer and director doesnt inspire much confidence.

On top of that I'm tired of franchise movies existing just because big execs want more money.

Sure money has to be the goal. But half the time this stuff feels like "a Zelda movie would get us a hefty bag. Let's make a Zelda movie"

    Instead of

"I have an AMAZING idea for a Zelda movie. Here's my pitch"

Pretty spot on. Nothing comes off as inspired these days

It’s genuinely baffling that they aren’t doing animated film, ESPECIALLY after the Mario movie did over a billion

At first I thought this too

But considering the audience for Zelda skews older, this might have been the right call business wise, trying to make it more of a young adult lord of the rings sort of thing instead of just a less popular animated film

i hope this movie is american as s***

Imagine all these Nintendo movies lead up to a Smash Bros film like The Avengers

It seemed more possible if Nintendo stuck with everything being animated

    it’s gonna be weird otherwise

I think it would work out really well as an animated film, money wise, if they start the film series off with child Link.

The first movie is Link as a child, with a similar tone as Link's Awakening or Wind Maker. More cartoony. Don't start off with Ganon, or Ganondorf as the villain

Then as the film series goes on, Link gradually gets older. And the tone of the the series becomes darker and more mature as he gets older and more sinister villains like Ganondorf is introduced.

If they had the balls to do this, it could be really innovative for the Hollywood animation industry.

The 1st Movie cracks near or over a billi from long time Zelda fans, and the kiddies that it's marketed towards.

Then by the time Movie 3 comes around, it has a darker tone. The kiddies who were like 9 watching the 1st movie are like 16-17 now. But they're still invested because the film series matured as they matured
Older Zelda fans are even MORE invested now.
And kiddies still want to see it.
    Movie still cracks a billi

    Exactly lol
A bunch of minor visual similarities is enough for a persons brain to go oh, sort of reminds me of that other aesthetic

Idk. The Ghibli vibes are strong with those games imo. And I thought that before knowing about the Mononoke visual comparisons

They lack the thematic and emotional depth imo which is the real major component that makes ghibli (miyazaki in that case) movies what they are

A bunch of visual similarities that may just be based on Japanese folklore and history just isn't enough imo

I'm not talking about the story. I'm talking vibes. It just has a cozy feeling and aesthetic to me, and gives me similar vibes that I get when watching Ghibli movies.

A combination of the color palettes used in the games. The soft piano music. Fantasy world. Etc.

It just invokes the feel I get from just binging Ghibli movies.

Either way, Ghibli would be a great fit to do a Zelda movie regardless.
