But the fact they decided to make this live action and it’s a different studio there doesn’t seem to be plans for the movies to overlap so it could happen

Dec 5, 2023·1 replyElricAlso to be fair Zelda pretty clearly inspired by medieval Europe. Some of the Zelda games have more Japanese elements but they definitely made Link (and Mario) white in their attempt to crack into the American market.
Well Mario just ended up as a white plumber by sheer coincidence of the tech limitations in the earliest days but they ran with it.
For sure, but I more so meant Japanese creatives helming the project rather than just it being inherently “all Japanese.” They could still cast actors in the west if they felt it was appropriate.

would be much better if they cast someone relatively unknown. suspension of disbelief much easier in those cases.
