"But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society.

These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard.

And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity."

My man brought up an event from the 1700s to relate to a 2020 event 😂

You can learn a lot from history.

The same people who are pearl clutching at the property destruction of companies that are worth billions of dollars are the first ones to advocate for violent intervention whenever a sovereign nation does anything that the US govt doesn't like.

Never think that they're opposed to violence, they just want violence to be used for a different cause and against different targets, and often times on a much larger scale as well.

I can’t personally support the riots occurring rn because Minnesota has actually handled the situation really well so far imo.

They’ve been fired which usually never happens in these situations and the mayor stated that they should be charged, which means that they will likely be charged soon

Sure it might be marginally better than how other places have handled this stuff but them getting fired is a pretty low bar for something like this.

I'm glad the mayor is calling for charges but the people who actually hold that kind of power have yet to act.
