The average army soldier is in their mid 20s and higher ranks tend to be in their early 30s. Very, very possible that there are a lot of racists hanging out in the military, but they aren't from the old guard. The demographics are shifting all the time.

I have no idea how they would behave, so I won't make any predictions, but they aren't just attack dogs. The military can make some judgments of their own in situations like this.
