NoirWhat's the goal with abolishing police? Like, what's the alternative, community volunteers? That can get out of hand quickly.
I think the idea is to defund them slowly over time in favor of a variety of community services.
The sources I’ve seen talk about police being forced to deal with a lot of the issues we have - mental health issues for example get handled by the police in many cases because the other ways to help those people just aren’t in place or funded well enough
