Something I realized while typing out one of my last few posts is that its difficult to explain systemic racism to someone who refuses to acknowledge it
When you have so much history at the touch of a screen, of how this country was built, like cmon dude u never learned about segregation, u think racism magically went away in the 60s or something? and that people on the "Left" mention it just for fun? Not because police officers get away with killing unarmed people all the time here?
edit: this post is somewhat on topic but my bad if i ever drive this thread off topic other than the important info, I'ma try not to treat this thread almost as a chat thread almost as I have been doing, thats not the point of it
This is something I struggle with explaining to my immigrant parents who often default to how things are worse back home.
I try to harp on simple things — the 20th century brought out the suburbs of modern day, and blacks were discriminated against and were not ALLOWED to move in certain neighborhoods. They were restricted to certain areas, and there’s very little way out for many people. They’re stuck. With gentrification, real estate prices, etc — the golden opportunity that so many Americans had was not given to blacks, and so much of the negative image that people have about certain groups and neighborhoods can be traced back to this - poor schools, etc.
It’s a simple, clean example but I think gives a good, targeted look at the systemic nature of this all.
can someone post the video of someone asking i think it was an nypd officer what happens after curfew and the officer responding something like " we'll start beating the s*** out of you" pls
That got me so tight, especially people defending him saying that he was just being frank

oh yeah im tired but like generation poverty because families cant afford to up and move out of communities, and can't get jobs cause they hire from outside the neighborhood and s*** like that that just makes it worse
a lot of you talk about eating the rich
but this is what big businesses like amazon want you to do, and all the looters and rioteters are playing into their hands
destroying small businesses and brick & mortar stores, destroying the competition so that big business can thrive
'racism' is just the front for all of this, the tool used to rile people up. it's really all about classism
and this is the part that will make everyone hate me, it's the left thats dividing everyone along these racial lines, its the left that fuels the fire of racism
why isnt there as much of an outcry for the black cop shot and killed? is his life not worth as much? is it because it doesnt fit the narrative?
Your post was genius until you brought up the idea that there’s a left and a right. If it’s a war of classism what makes you think one side of billionaires cares about us more than the other. Right and left are the same side lol.

also the black middle class that arose in the 60s after the civil rights movement was quickly shrunken in part to recessions that came after. Every rescission or depression affects black and minority communities the most.
Tbh tho people who don't want to listen are most likely just not going to listen
That’s not the cop responding btw
The tweet isn’t even quoting the words correctly
This is why I don’t trust twitter

I've seen people saying that more white people are killed by cops than black people
do they even know that the US has 61% of the population white and just 12% of it is african?
f***ing "all lives matter! I'm tired of seeing BLM posts. just this year 42 whites and 31 black have been shot, we're not privileged!!!" headasses
just remembered sandra bland’s mugshot was taken when she was already dead
i remember seeing it freshmen year. that picture still haunts me to this day

That’s an easy way to see how disproportionate it is
