Coupled with mass unemployment with no relief, a completely botched quarantine of a pandemic. And 4 years straight of far right antagonism and class war can't be swept away with media narratives. They've lost control, any real concessions will show violence does work and may be the only path for reform. So they can't do that. They can't contain the riots and are already enlisting high school freshmen as auxiliary. They can't guilt the protesters away since materially they have no reason to believe in the system.
