van dijk for ballon d'or...losing faith in awards otherwise
Messi has won it
Hard to really argue with it either, he had an insane season

agree that he had quite the season, but Virgil brought home the chip & defensive stats were unparalleled
Hope we never play napoli again
We'll play them next preseason like we always do, them have them in our Champions League group, it somewhere in the knockout stages.
They're like a rash that just doesn't go away, I'm sure we play them more often in a year than we do most English clubs.

Funny thing is that they’re not even that good of a side, 7th in serie a and missing key players atm but we still can’t win lol
Gonna be honest I’m all in for the league this year, going out in the group stage would be gutting but the positives are we’d have one game a week from February onwards to focus on winning the title because Klopp would likely throw the Europa
Fabinho being injured is more hurtful than the result, we don’t look the same without him and Trent in the side

I genuinely don't want us in the Europa League, Klopp would still have to have some level of investment in the Europa League, plus the traveling won't do us any favours, ig we have some draws in Eastern Europe. If we're lucky we'd get a easy cup run.
As for Fabinho, hope Klopp starts being a bit more adventurous going into December, our best run last season was around this time of year when we started playing the 4231. Think we even managed without Trent for a bit.
Edit: would like to see this lineup
Ali
Trent CB VvD Robbo
Gini Keita
Salah Ox Mané
Bobby

would love that lineup but there's no way Klopp does that lmao
that's way too attacking and it seems he doesn't trust K8A which is so disappointing
finished watching the match and napoli basically set up the way Mourinho will when we play Spurs again
better go back to the drawing board in regards to dealing with teams who park the bus like that
@bri10 hope he doesn’t if it comes to it, let the likes of adrian hoever elliot brewster play the random bulgarian sides
Yeah I agree, I think we’ll see Lallana in fabinho role this weekend against brighton but I’d defo be looking at going with a 4231 for the Everton game
pains me to see hendo at the 6, hope fab isn't out for long or at all
with vvd/matip/gomez/lovren we got cbs who can play the ball, even when he's recycling it he doesn't spray it around like fab
what's annoying is despite the criticisms of milner, which are valid, robbo always seems to play better when they're on the same side. they have a good understanding of when to drop and cover for one another

Klopp seemed really worried so it doesn’t look good, I’d be surprised if he’s back this year

oh god no
Id really like to see elliot being given a go with the first team at some point, he looks legit but I understand klopp hesitation to play him atm with the games being so close
Miss the old Liverpool who would just 3-0 sides comfortably every other week

They didn't need a win though, they played s***house football. Took their only chance they had very well and then defended at a high level. We only won 1-0 last year against these.

We’re usually the best side in the league at breaking down these sides though but I agree that they defended very well. Trent starts that game instead of Gomez and we win it imo
We missed him badly, you could even see it with the corners first half

There's still the match preparation that goes into a game, playing dead rubber games every other Thursday would kind of disrupt undermine Klopp's "one game at a time" philosophy. We'd miss a day or 2 in match proper prep for crucial games, because we're prepping for a game in Belarus against a team with a completely different approach to the one we're playing over the weekend. It would be disastrous, and it would milk our momentum like the domestic cups last season.
If we're going to not take Europe seriously, then I'd rather we did on a Tuesday or Wednesday night.
