a lot of the people who get upset over this were typically the ones who got teased as a child and never got over it
i mean no ones getting mad at key glock for using that as a title in a song. lizzo's international now though and is now open to a wider audience, one that's all about inclusivity and acceptance being her brand. it makes sense for her to be open to changing it.
now if A Kid Named Cudi drops on streaming services and cudi spazzin is taken off i'll agree lol
I feel that but I still don’t think she should’ve folded when we all know what she meant and knew she didn’t mean to step on any toes. This situation aside it feel like everyone try to police what we do while at the same time jock our style and the way that we talk without even realizing it.
The people complaining call their squares a homophobic term lol. I think that part is more worth fighting over than having them come out the cut crying when we don’t even use it as a slur over on this side.
i agree 100% with this post.
for the record i never condemned her in this thread for saying it, it seems like an obvious mistake, and i never would've even thought twice about it if it were me.
just that i understood the complaint, and think she, because of the artist she is, was right to change it and delivered a good apology.
we live in a toxic world where people will throw your online mistakes back at you even after apologizing and moving on, and we have toxic people that'll dismiss a sincere apology as PR. F*** those people. Can't cater anything to them, but I don't think changing the line was for them.
Lizzo seems like someone who genuinely wants to create a safe space for marginalized people. She was like this before she really blew so I doubt this apology is just a cynical PR ploy.
She probably had her genuinely upset fans in mind when she wrote her apology. But while those fans may be genuinely moved by her actions, another larger, louder crowd is going to feel that dopamine rush you get from knocking someone down a peg. And they’re going to scrutinize her and others even further hoping to find an excuse to do it again. That’s upsetting.
I’m not sure that it’s even possible to navigate an audience like that in the social media era, but the issue of dogpiling people for simple mistakes (the overall harm of those mistakes notwithstanding) is just getting worse as time goes on. That seems like something we can agree on imo.
Karens from the UK demanded Lizzo conform to UK language and commanded her to change the lyrics. Tweet that started it

Are your friends on the right?
This fake outage is so crazy, internet (Twitter especially) really is a cesspool of miserable ass people that are completely devoid of reality. Imagine getting so angry about hearing a word that isn’t even bad, and wasn’t even used bad, that you need to get online to whine about it. Christ these people need to be put in solitary confinement with a muzzle on until the end of time
Never in my life have i ever heard “spaz” being a slur word, nor used as one
Sad to see Lizzo bent the knee to these weirdos but unfortunately she probably don’t have a choice
Tweets aren’t loading on KTT for me for some reason. Screenshot?
