He never speaks up about anything
Genocide in palestine, DRC, yemen whatever
He has no obligation to but i hate the fact that he obviously takes on a savior role and uses that imagery and then cops out to being a capitalist industry man by pointing out hes not our savior lol

He literally rejected the savior role. Speaking out injustice and calling out f***ery effecting the community he’s from isn’t tryna be a savior tho. Thats a stigma projected onto him because of some of his content.

Lets not act like he doenst capitalize from that role when it suits him; like versus drake. You can call out drake for being a colonizer but you dont call out the real colonizers by name?
Its not my problem and he isnt obligated to do anything but thats just how i feel personally.

I agree that his fans are mostly to blame for how he is perceived but there’s a reason theyre doing that.

kendrick’s pulitzer prize winning rapper brand does make it more egregious but if kendrick just made ignorant s*** with the same platform and numbers and attention rn it would be just as morally wrong

there’s sm happening in the world i just feel like what’s the point why not stand for something bigger than yourself, maybe im just idealistic and dumb but i feel like an artist duty is to push boundaries and make it culturally acceptable (especially as a black artist) to make the impossible possible. to say from the river to the sea and stand tall in front of a massive audience.

i don’t think kendrick needs to be a politician but the cultural impact of big artists with massive platforms saying f*** ice would etch their name into history imo, ice arguably a modern day gestapo

Him not speaking up on issues outside of his music is something he's been doing for a while. It's why he was getting scrutiny in 2020 and people were like "He only uses these issues to sell a product". Which led to him taking a step away from all that with Mr morale(which u could say was a cop out from that savior image he had of himself).

But yeah, I do wish he was outspoken on these topics tho, mainstream hiphop got like no artists who speak up on world issues like they used to.

Plenty of examples of artists in the 20th century who spoke out who were way bigger than kendrick and drake even if it was superficial

Genuinely confuses me why people look to celebs and artists to push political change forward, that’s never been a thing historically

The change comes from regular working class people, not the ones who actively benefit the most from the system/current state of affairs

You mean the savior status he disavowed 3 years ago?

I still wish he would speak out on global issues more though dont get me wrong but he’s not posturing that way

Art and politics are both extensions of philosophy so theyre not entirely removed from each other

Niggas writing paragraphs about celebrities like we don’t already know these people are not our leaders or figures we should put any responsibility or trust into 💀

Your local governmental body is probably committing legislative, systematic horrors rn, focus
