DCGet a dog at like 8 weeks old and raise it for the next 10-15 years and I promise you when it passes away you will have an extremely rough time.
Mine is only 4 years old and I am dreading the day I have to say goodbye.

Dogs live for 10-15 human years, meaning the timespan that generally most humans use to describe their pets.
I am aware dog years are different but nobody goes around saying yeah my dog lived until he was 50...
If my parents got a dog when I was 10, we can guess it would live 12-15 years putting me at the age of 22-25. Even if I had kids at the age of 18 that would make them 4-6 years old, the dog would die when they are young, not when they are older?
