Lakers just doing their due diligence but the most likely trade right now is DLO, 2029 draft pick, and a pick swap for Dejounte Murray

The hold up is that the Hawks are looking for a third team for DLO and it's expected that talks are going to get more serious closer to the Feb 8 trade deadline.

DLO needs to continue to play well and drive up his trade value to entice that third team.

Or play so well that the Lakers have serious doubts about trading him and just keep him while running the risk of losing him for nothing in the summer.

Next two weeks in the locker room might get even more tense especially if the Lakers start going on a losing streak.

This still doesn’t get the Lakers in the second round. Trading all those assets away for a lateral move is a joke.

When you are a team competing for a title, picks don't mean much.

Lakers already have young guys in Christie, Maxwell, and Castleton that they can develop + an elite scouting department that finds gems late in the draft.

Giving up those picks is not a big deal.

A lateral move is ideal. Lakers don't want to risk losing DLO for nothing or pay a crazy amount to keep him. Murray would be a good replacement.

The main thing that determines whether we get past the second round is Ham.

We might not even make the playoffs with some of the decisions he's making.

Spencer Dinwiddie makes the most sense to me.

DLO would end up back with the Nets and they would still have a playmaker and shooter and Hawks get an expiring contract with Dinwiddie.

i do not want tyus jones, he is worse than dlo but i guess its better than losing dlo for nothing. tyus isnt a pending free agent right

he'll be unplayable against any opposing guard that can light him up because if his shot isnt falling, he's useless and doesnt even get to the line.

i do think if we gave him more of the reigns to facilitate he'd be more useful when his shot isnt falling. hes a gifted passer but regardless, he can be played off the court.
