"Redick, an ESPN NBA a***yst who played 15 years in the league, had a 90-plus-minute visit with Lakers vice president and general manager Rob Pelinka last month at the Chicago draft combine.
Now, a trip to Los Angeles will go far deeper into detail on the job and include Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss in the meetings, sources said.
Pelinka and Redick have talked on the phone in recent days, and Redick understands and accepts Pelinka's lengthy pursuit of Connecticut coach Dan Hurley that initially stalled Redick's candidacy, sources said."

"As New Orleans Pelicans assistant James Borrego's candidacy gains traction in Cleveland, Redick has a chance to make his case in an all-day session with Pelinka, Buss and other senior decision-makers in Los Angeles," sources said.
"As Pelinka did with Hurley, he still wants a teaching coach and staff who will prioritize the development of young players such as Max Christie, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura and can design a creative approach to featuring Anthony Davis on both ends of the floor", sources said.
"Redick has a strong relationship with Lakers star LeBron James, with whom he co-hosts a basketball podcast."
Is there an amount of money the Lakers could have offered Dan Hurley that would have resulted in him leaving UConn?
"To say that it's not a motivating factor – the finances –to leave a place, it's definitely a thing...To leave all that behind, there probably is a number. I don't know what that is. "
Jeanie being cheap is hurting the Lakers so much
$115-120 million and Hurley probably would've been the Lakers coach.
this is so dumb, they have all this time and cant do a formal interview. coaching is more than xs and os

That's a severe overpay
That's a severe overpay
It dont matter
Detroit f***ed up the coaching market by giving Monty Williams his contract so now you gotta overpay for coaches.
Lakers are a billion dollar franchise and the coaches salary doesn't even go towards the cap. What's the problem ?
When you also factor cost of living and LA's high taxes, you have to go over your initial amount just to really convince him.
Lakers lowballed Ty Lue and he rejected them. They didn't go hard enough for Hurley and it costed them. They didn't learn anything.

Hurley's am interesting candidate but not proven and not worth all that money. They do be low balling mfs but other than Cassell, JJ, or Adelmann I haven't felt "ok" with any other prospect and I'm heavily leaning JJ because to me this only a 2/3 year job
Jeanie should sell Atleast a big percentage to a huge corporations. Still have the 51% and power but have a machine behind you. Look at the Dodgers

Mark Jackson would be my number 1

All they gotta do is sell more to AEG for some more capital and I'm sure they know. I don't think money is their problem, they just running a bad business model

shes really not as wealthy as you and other fans may think she is lol. lakers may be worth billions, but she herself certainly is not.
arent we still paying vogel and now ham? she pays hurley 100 mill and she's paying 150 mill for coaches alone? and what if that didnt work out in a couple years and now she has to spend another 20 mill on another coach
its easy to sit here and say she should pay whatever when its not our money.
Scotty didn’t have any aura
Then he hit us up pretty good
I truly believe he's a triple-double threat like Tyus and Tre Jones
