“In terms of what the offense looks like, there will be a decent amount of movement. The shot profile will hopefully improve. We talked about ways to create more paint touches, shooting more threes, and some of the leeway you have to give players with their mid range shots.
From a possessions standpoint, one of the margins this team created last year has been free throws. Outside of that there hasn’t been margin creations.
We have to emphasize offensive rebounding, corner crashes. I’m not comparing that to any previous coach or system, but those are some of the things that will look like a team that I coach.”
Pelinka said that Jarred Vanderbilt had a procedure on each foot after last season, and they were “highly successful.” He’s on a return-to-play protocol. Pelinka shared optimism that when the regular season starts, he'll be available, though there will be ramp-up steps that need to go well; they're hopeful for no setbacks.

Pelinka says Vanderbilt had a bone spur in his right foot addressed shortly after the season ended and when he was having that foot addressed, the doctor suggested he also have a procedure on his left foot.
Rob Pelinka says wanting to build "sustainable Lakers excellence" is why they have hesitated to trade future drafts picks to this point. He again says they are willing to trade picks, but the right move did not present itself this offseason.

Rob Pelinka says Bronny already found himself matched up with LeBron in a pickup game at the Lakers facility and dad took his son baseline and scored at the basket.
Redick: “I had a goal of hiring a really diverse coaching staff in terms of experience and skillsets, and we accomplished that, but the one thing that was a non-negotiable was that everyone we hired was a basketball sicko. If you want to feel alive and you love basketball, come to one of our coaches meetings. It’s been awesome.”
Redick on D'Angelo Russell: "Throughout the summer he was probably the guy I talked to the most ... he's going to have a major role on this team." He wants to put Russell in a position to have a career year. Said Russell's mindset and leadership have been excellent.
