If he signs, he's probably the last big on the depth chart. He still is a big body, high IQ, rebounds, can make secondary reads, is a pick and pop option which we did not have at all from any big last season, and lastly he provides leadership. This is all for the minimum.
My top 5
1. Cenac Center
2. De Lara PG
3. Kayil PG
4. Veesar center
5. Pear f

Too much dead weight. I would not trust Kevin love to play in the playoffs
We need to dump Bronny and Vandy somehow. Maxi is gone. That would give us 3 roster spots⦠Iām keeping that first rounder. So down to two free agentsā¦
Hoping we run it back and resign Reaves, Rui, Kennard, LeBron, Hayes. Be tight to add anyone else

Did you read what I said? He's going to be the 14th-15th man, there's no need to have to trust him in a playoff game. And quite frankly, even at 40, I'd trust Kevin Love over Jaxson Hayes in a playoff game.
40yo Kevin Love. Horrific offseason start

40yo Kevin Love. Horrific offseason start

"Doncic is spending the summer in Slovenia with his daughters, Gabriela and Olivia, but sources close to him told ESPN he is in "constant communication" with Lakers president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka and coach JJ Redick."
"Coming off a season in which he led the league in scoring at 33.5 points per game and finished fourth in MVP voting before a Grade 2 left hamstring strain sidelined him for L.A.'s postseason run, Doncic is finally healthy as he begins his offseason training.
He was cleared for basketball activities on May 28 -- about 2½ weeks after their series against the Thunder finished, sources close to Doncic told ESPN.
"He's in full go mode," one source said.
"While the 27-year-old Doncic is preparing for another season squarely in his prime, he has made one roster preference clear to Pelinka and Redick, sources said.
It's the same one he made in the days after he first arrived in Los Angeles 16 months ago.
"Luka's first and foremost desire is an A-list center," the source said.
"The team has kept Doncic informed as the draft and free agency approaches; there is an expectation from the six-time All-Star for the Lakers to present a near-immediate path to championship contention.
"Luka wants to be a championship team yesterday," a source close to Doncic said. "Ever since the trade, they've always told us: 'summer of '26.
We'll show you in the summer of '26.' So, we are so excited that the summer of '26 is here."
"There are several restricted free agents the Lakers have already done their due diligence on, sources familiar with the team's thinking told ESPN.
Two of them, Jalen Duren of the Detroit Pistons and Walker Kessler of the Utah Jazz, would satisfy Doncic's directive to secure an A-list center.
Two others, Peyton Watson of the Denver Nuggets and Tari Eason of the Rockets, are the type of 3-and-D archetypes who any team needs in order to succeed in the modern NBA."
"The Lakers are interested in retaining Marcus Smart and sharpshooter Luke Kennard, sources told ESPN.
Smart, who was recruited to L.A. by Doncic and has until June 29 to exercise the final year of his contract at $5.4 million, enjoyed his role with the Lakers and is hoping for a new contract and a raise, sources said.
Kennard, for his part, was on an $11 million expiring contract and has interest in making L.A. his long-term home after previously playing 2½ seasons with the LA Clippers."
"The biggest unknown is swingman Rui Hachimura.
The 28-year-old forward followed up a strong regular season (11.5 points per game on 51.4% from the field and 44.3% from 3) with a brilliant playoffs (17.5 points on 54.9% overall and 56.9% from 3) while playing on an $18.3 million expiring deal.
Several league sources told ESPN they believe Hachimura could be the odd man out and that he might need to explore the market to find a desired deal."

Get Malik Beasley too

Need this hamhock healthy

Will Rob Pelinka actually pull the trigger and just get Nic Claxton when all the other center options fail ?
He should've done this last offseason but Ayton fell in his lap so I get it but now it's the time.
Honestly all the centers that Lakers are rumored to be targeting aren't realistic (Kessler, Duren, etc.)

I used to love Nic when I thought he was gonna be a playmaker. I still like him but I'd hate to overpay for him
I'm damn near cool with TimeLord instead of Ayton

"With Charlotte considering a starting-caliber center upgrade, other centers besides Sabonis are on their radar, including Brooklyn Nets center Nic Claxton, league sources told HoopsHype."
Hornets are looking at Claxton too so there might be competition.
but Rob was willing to trade a pick, Knecht and a pick swap for Mark Williams. Claxton shouldn't be too expensive to get. I would offer the 25th pick or even the 2031 first + Knecht.
If we could somehow get Sharpe or Josh Minott (athletic stretch 4) in the same deal, it would be great.
Nets always have the kind of players that we need.
Yea, Timelord is definitely a guy they should try to get even if Ayton opts in.
Center rotation: Claxton, Timelord, Hayes
or
Claxton, Ayton, Timelord, Hayes
Nic Claxton, Jarret Allen, Ke'el Ware, Daniel Gafford are the 4 centers that I see as being somewhat realistic to trade for and fit with Luka
If we don't get a real starting center this season, then we're definitely not winning anything this year.
If Ayton opts out and we didn't trade for a starting center, then we're f***ed.

Ain't Clax getting like 30+ a year?
I'm so scared

nah he's getting paid $23 mill this season and then $21 million in 2027-2028. After that he's a free agent.
His contract actually goes down.
Jarret Allen is the one getting $30 million a year. Allen is making $28 million this year, $30 million next year, and then $32 million in 2028-2029.

I genuinely don't even think Rob Pelinka knows who Josh Minott is

would be nice to have an assistant GM that does
what happened to hiring one ??
Lowkey think that Rob just decided to say f*** it, I'll do it all myself this offseason after the main guy he was hoping to get decided to stay in Philly.
Apparently Rob has been hyping this offseason to Luka's camp for a while so now it's all on him. There's no excuse.
If he doesn't deliver, then he definitely should be in the hot seat.
