Prove me wrong. Any confident person would crumble and turn into a little b**** if they had the same social and romantic experiences as a low esteem person

low self esteem is always a result of something. how can it be a "cause" ? like genetic low self esteem? lmao

parents constantly telling u to shut up, or knowing whats best for u + making u feel like u have no agency over anything is a big one.

u grow up thinking ur everyone's subordinate

  • and that's why i listen to kanye west, it's the code to self-esteem

You know you can just CHOOSE not have low self esteem right?

  • They actually wouldn’t crumble. Thats makes them confident. Do you think confident people are immune to bad conditions/situations?

Also, they wouldn’t find themselves in those situations in the first place

If you don’t have the belief in yourself to even do something, it would lead to your misfortune as you would not have the self-esteem to take a necessary risk regarding your life, trapping yourself in a pit of your doubts leading to further misfortune and inability to ever grow past your thoughts

    I disagree

  • When you’re black you learn there’s no point in having low self esteem

White/asian/latino people 70% of the time gonna judge you cause of what you look like, live life in your own skin the way you want cause you never gonna make them happy anyway

    Let’s say you’re born ugly
But work out at 5 that your entire village is actually butt ugly and you’re beautiful in comparison
In your wider city, you’re ugly, but in your small town you’re beautiful and are often told as such

You need to commute to the city to work, and this is hard for you
Once admired for being stunning you’re looked down on for being ugly

However your village provides a really good support system - you’re not egotistical and they love you no matter.
You look forward to returning there after your work each day because they rebuild you and make each work day less hurtful day by day. You build resilience

Your self esteem is now high because you know not to base something as important on something as trivial as looks

Now replace town with home and city with school, that’s basically it. Don’t underestimate your formative years

I only read the abstract but nowhere in this did the participants convince themselves of anything. They were told by the test conductors that they got better sleep. ie they were lied to and convinced by a trusted professional. Of course they'll perform better than the other group.
If i get a health test and the results are bad I'll feel worse about myself and perform worse in day to day life, and if the results are good I'll feel better about myself and perform well.
Nothing here suggests you can convince yourself, though I'm not saying it's not possible. Just not exactly as cut and dry as this twitter "MD" implies.

    this is not an alt

What if the kid was also ugly compared to his towns people though?

Then he will develop tougher skin to face the city and will return to his town to build his resilience, knowing nothing can be worse than the city

The perspective shifts but is the same

He will then develop his own town where he leads by positivity

Note no matter whether the town mock him or not (I just assume the experience is negative), the outcome is the same because esteem is yours to build

But I think you need that distance/journey
