lupe has great synergy with soundtrakk
he has a similar thing with pharrell and dahi. i remember dahi saying madonna was the best beat he had made and lupe was the only one to pick it
I didn't know this. Dahi is one of the best producers out there imo. Its a shame I don't think him and lu will work together again.
But hopefully they will

Said the patron to the painter, the painter said, "The blues"
one of the hardest lines of the year

Ain’t no “might” about it buddy
Still digesting this album. Haven’t had time to delve in as deep as I want to get with Lupe project but it’s so good just on its surface.
Lupe really gonna put out interviews every week until the deluxe, you love to see it.

I think the fact that he was pushing materialism and brands like go yard. He talks about going to the store in Europe with Pharrell and the employees treating them like s***. It just made him reconsider pushing brands

hes told that story before
I’ve always dug Lupe’s beat selection.
F&L II has his worst beat selection

Maybe overall but Cold War and Strange Fruition are great off memory. I haven’t listened to it in years. I remember editing the tracklist and adding certain cut tracks and All Black Everything which was more fitting on it anyway. Wish I could find that playlist, it was a much better album that way.

B**** Bad and Lamborghini Angles are shockingly bad and bland.
don’t know what happened on that album. The beats might be worse than LASERS.

Very good album. I always liked the fluffiness of it. But there is a lot of heavy gems hidden in between. I don’t think many emcees can pull that balance off
confirms NAOMI is about Naomi Osaka and just a motivation to keep going and sacrificing for a bigger goal

Understandable as the surface of that song is like the antithesis of The Cool, the closest he ever leaned into typical rapper cliches. But my takeaway with Gold Watch was always “The most important parts are the ones that are unseen, the wings don’t make you fly and the crown don’t make you king”. The bait and switch is what made the song effective at all. It’s like sure, these things are cool, but they’re still just things. Nothing compared to all the positive qualities that actually define you as a person. Maybe the message became a little muddied with time, but there were good intentions here.
Anyway, can't believe we got DMIZ cause Chill was bored lol. This interview was def less organic than the last couple, but basically confirmed the futility I was feeling from this album, like maybe you can't save the world anymore. The words from the commander tho, that's all it takes to keep you going.

Yeah def love the last verse on gold watch. All people talk about is Lupe being ahead of his time and wearing goyard and s***. I think they missed the point of the song
