we gotta remember he's probably still scarred from F&L leaking all those years ago lol. doesn't seem like he wanted any details out until he was ready for it. that said it seems like there's been a disconnect between him & the team at 30 tigers?
For sure. Same thing happened with the Wave leak. He needs to move on from them

people understandably trashed TDE when i brought it up. who should he work with?

like I said before, TDE would be a huge jump up from a 3rd tier country music distributor

TDE is not a distributor
Lupe just needs to actually do interviews and go on a promotional run

This sounds incredible. The album being reviewed means it was sent to some places, which could risk an early leak? For Lupe's sake I hope not, only 2 days away now.

Nevermind, interview is taken down already I see

The reviewer may have only gotten a copy due to VMP needing the files to press the vinyls they’re sending out. My guess is they did a review without Lupe’s knowledge.

I mean, they have to use a distributor too...
I don't think he needs to sign to a label or anything, just do the things you said. but him and the team at 30 tigers seem to be out of sync since he started using them. starting with the wave release date debacle that led to it leaking early.

i think they distribute through warner. the thing is these big companies take a larger percentage from the artist while doing the same things. also lupe distributor has a dope business model, they give more to the artist
i just think he need to do la leakers, interviews, flex, npr tiny desk, colors studios, etc. stuff like that to get his name out there. he too secluded

Good point. Makes sense

I don't know if he wants to do that

He has done some interviews, but yeah, it all depends if Lupe wants to do them.
I am with you that he is too secluded. But one is not sure if his take on doing said interviews has changed over time, or even worsened since going Indie
I would eventually (now what I'm saying is likely not to happen) love to see Lupe go on a feature run where he's killing verses left and right, basically making that song his own.
I'm not saying go to a mainstream like song, but at least consider doing it with a few artists that have praised him (ala Tyler), or even want to speak it to existence (Sol Messiah back then tweeted (along with Sa-Roc) he wanted to work with Lu).
Hard to say what'll happen. It'll have to come to a point where Lu will be inspired to come out of his shell for a little bit just so people remember what he can do at any given time.
this leaking or what?
Safe to say he avoided a leak this time, it'll probably be out tomorrow morning or so.

It'll leak tomorrow morning
Can someone school me on why some artists (Lupe) have the New Zealand problem, and some avoid it (Kendrick)?

I still see bigger artists have the NZ issue though. Some artists are just doing something different with their distribution

Who?
Who?
seems to happen to almost every rock band, no matter how big they are. for rap, the most recent one I can remember is logic last week (I know you guys hate him, but he still has a ton of fans). ill try to remember better examples
do bigger labels pay the dsp's for 1 global release instead of regionally, or just the dsp's do it on their own if they think the artist is popular enough?

This isn’t true. Vince and Denzel had the NZ problem with their last releases, Boldy James and Benny The Butcher didn’t

Lupe is easily capable of doing a feature run like Cole’s, and he’s got big enough friends that it could have a similar effect on his career; it’s really just about him deciding to go that route

This is a solid point.
