lupe always real
Tommy converted to Judaism but disclaimer I am not trying to justify what Kanye’s said
Kanye tweeted a while back in an episode that MJ warned us about Tommy before they killed MJ.
I’m not missing his point. He’s saying we should ignore Ye’s actions, right? “There’s bigger fish to fry.” He’s saying we should look away from Jean Jacket. I agree in the sense that we shouldn’t platform him. Not in this weird, nihilistic, deflecting, nothing really matters sense. It’s actually possible to care about our cars polluting the environment, and the spread of antisemitic ideology from one of our heroes, believe it or not. There are real people who will fall down the Nazi pipeline now. Trump was a joke until he was the president of the United States.
I don’t think Lupe would reject any of what you’re saying. But I think the context of what he’s saying lies more in “how do WE react as individuals”. And it’s not in any way to ignore his actions, but how do we as fans or observers cope with the fact that this artist who has had such an impact on us and the world is now promoting bigoted conspiracies. On that end he’s saying that we can acknowledge that positive effect but let go of the responsibility we have to be invested in his work or his words
