Here's what an artist singing about being gay looks like.
This whole song is about being in love while closeted.
Straightforward and real. Not some mysterious music riddle bullshit.
Luther Vandross was in the closet until he died and still did more for the LGBT community through his music than Frank ever has, or ever will.
Where’s his Blonde?
Every single Luther Vandross album is better than Blonde.

nope
Just cus they both gay doesn’t mean you have to compare them
Luther Vandross was gay?!
Another right-wing troll account grandfathered in from KTT1 🙄
Let that resentment out sir
Sometimes artists just wanna make music without having this obligation shoved on them. You expect Tyler the Creator and Isaiah Rashad to make music that "does something" for the LGBT+ community? S*** is lame
Let that resentment out sir
All I ever see you doing here is hating on hip-hop and making snide replies. Seems like you are the one filled with resentment

I’m good
How does this song make sense when he was also closeted
how he do more for the LGBT community when you literally just said he was in the closet until he died?

Writing from the perspective of his lover maybe
how he do more for the LGBT community when you literally just said he was in the closet until he died?
Even if he was never out at the time, a lot of Luther's songs feel like reflections on the gay experience. Sometimes it's very obvious, like his cover of Killing Me Softly where he didn't even bother to change the pronouns around. Other times, it's a straight song with gay subtext like 'Secret Love'. More broadly, the sense of loneliness and wistfulness in his songs is something I think a lot of gay people can relate to. Meanwhile. Frank's songs are shallow and passionless and reflect only on his own narcissism.
Note that I said that Luther Vandross did "more for the LGBT community through his music". There are other ways to help the community outside of art, of course - activism, charity, etc. - Luther didn't do these, but tbf Frank hardly does any of those things either. And we should hold Frank to a higher standard, because people are more accepting now and there is more room to help the community without losing everything.
Luther made beautiful music, period. Has nothing to do with LGBT,although that adds an extra layer to his greatness

Other people want to compare them. It’s okay if that bothers you.
