True but Faces is far better than the rest of his discog imo

I actually prefer Macadelic and WMWTSO tbh

it did not seem like his “career was over” after dropping on the same day as Astroworld the f*** is wrong w some of y’all man

Edit: dude edited his post cuz he knew what he said was dead wrong after i called him out lmaooo

You weren’t there literally everyone was clowning the fact that no one cared about the drop anymore and you would get clowned for even talking about that release. Literally no one was watching Mac like that. Iirc it was his lowest fw numbers as well

It’s honestly not cap at all like people really were treating Mac like he was washed when he was making some of the best music of his life

the tiny desk version of this is incredible

Macs career trajectory is super weird tho
Like he was huge when he started out, with bde and kids he was everywhere for a while, then bsp dropped to lukewarm reception, then he dropped wmwtso and pandered to the of crowd, then dropping faces & good am slowly fading into obscurity then dropping divine feminine which seemed to gain some traction before dropping swimming same day as astroworld becoming completely eclipsed by that release. Seemed like his career was over and then boom he dies releases circles and all of the sudden you can’t get away from the music anymore

    Wtf

  • Sep 18, 2021

    Yeah hands down
    Even Circles was great

    RIP Mac.

Man, I wasn’t online like that that fall because I’d just started at a crazy job, but I remember everyone I know that was into music talking about them both like it was a great day for rap music - which it was. Mac was never going to compare commercially, but I didn’t know people were clowning him like that at that point. I know my one friend who was never really into him like that was impressed on first listen.

I remember driving around town bumping What’s The Use? Then, like a month later, the energy was never the same…

    Mendo

No disrespect the man but thats not close to being true

  • Sep 18, 2021

I honestly was pretty annoyed with his music pre-Macadelic and even didn’t give that a chance until after loving Watching Movies. Imo from there on his discog just kept getting better and better. He was really tapping into a great sound by the end, as Circles showed glimpses of. It’s just not fair, he had so much more to give…

Wild coming off of Divine Feminine, but I can very easily see it. The flowers never come when they can smell them I guess

Besides how do write music like 2009, so it goes, good news, woods from a place of upward trajectory in your career? The theme of being forgotten is literally right there in the music as well. Still phenomenal but saying Mac wasn’t fading is revisionist IMO

    mr get dough

People always mention the post Macadelic stuff which is true but KIDS and BDE are very important to the datpiff era, kids is a classic tape

only “missed” with BSP but even I loved that album

I don’t remember KTT being super negative but actually certain Twitter accounts.
Also Mac was popping because he was with Ari right before this album.
