"maimai DX is a dynamic rhythm game featuring a striking circular touchscreen that players tap, hold, and slide to the beat. With Asian pop culture now mainstream, J-pop, anime, and gaming are captivating global audiences, making maimai DX the perfect arcade experience for this movement." - SEGA

If you're interested in trying the game before it's "official" release, check zenius-i-vanisher to see if any arcades near you currently have import cabs!

That's my biggest issue with arcade rhythm games, access is only available to a select few outside of Asia. I'm lucky enough to have a few bemani cabs locally, and an arcade placed an order for a maimai cab, but unless you live in a large city it's almost impossible to find most of these cabs rn. It's even worse in europe.

Sega is aiming for a pretty big push for maimai, with smaller arcades other than round1 and dave and busters able to place orders. But with an eye watering price of like 31k PLUS the fear of tariffs who knows whats going to happen

Might look into it if I’m bored, but I’d much rather play this in person. That’s like 60% the fun

think I've seen these at cons and stuff. Niggas hog these machines like you wouldn't believe. The sweatiest most milk-smelling niggas you've ever seen with fingerless gloves and faux athletic attire just going APESHIT on these things, sight to behold

I tried the ones that were like DJ Hero, and the piano ones, those were cool

Yeah few cabs would float around from anime con to con and a couple arcades had some hush hush cabs so whenever they would pop out people would be nuts like you said lmfao, but sega finally officially released it in North America

iirc the games you're talking about are beatmania and chunithm another 2 of my favs

Maimai is about to hit the states like crack did in the 80s btw mark my words. ddr/guitar hero arcade levels of hype the only thing holding it back is no home port (which is only a plus for arcade owners)

Same reason people have been playing rhythm games in the arcade for 2 and a half decades, it's fun
