Nope, good rapping is not a 100% about content,it is about delivery and flows tho. A good rapper is like a good comedian,it’s about timing, one of my main gripes with most rappers today.
Content is about 30% rapping
This mindset is why we get so much NyQuil that emphasizes content over hype. MCs were always meant to get the crowd moving primarily. Rocky is a great rapper with not much content
definitive prrof that whats holding back neo dust is boring ass rappers too focused on wordplay
no one gives a s*** we just wanna hear cool s***

Big đź“
It’ll be fun for her fans I guess but 9th Wonder would have to cater a lot to her so she can fit on his beats.
That was her old bag tho
She said she wasn't getting attention from these type of tracks so she stopped doing them.
I love 90s rap but none of these mash ups are good to me

The Young Thug/Alchemist mashup the best one and it aint "90s rap" tbh.
I never knew Kodak ripped On & On though
Somehow someway we gotta bring mixtapes back.

In rap,it’s not about what your rapping about,it’s about how you rap it and say it and most these née dudes are simply just not as clever as their elders. And yes,Tocky is a dope rapper

Hmmmm,it could work if she’s going for a Neo soul/Pop sound but 9th’s sound is still pretty raw compared to what Doja makes musically.

Do you think NBA Youngboy on WASMYNAME is mid?

I liked it but wouldnt wanna hear an album over it
That felt good though bc he actually did his part over that beat

Rap has moved away from lyricism to just setting a certain vibe for a crowd. But tbh that’s the best type of hip-hop.
Ever been to a ghetto ass club and ying-yang twins comes on? Everybody loses their f***ing minds. Lyrically their bars are extremely simple , but got damn, the energy on the mic and throughout the club is almost unmatched.
I don't remember, but I remember this one tape that Waka Flocka did and he was spitting over classic 90s beats. Idk if anybody remembers, but lemme know if y'all find it

Artists need to release mixtapes that are really experimental just to develop hip-hop more.
Ik it’s too risky for an album, but throwing some loosies or a mixtape would do wonders for the scene

Can’t deny that about them not being as clever

Yo on some real s***, that reminds me that we need animated rappers again. Like Busta, Lil Jon, ODB, Mystikal, and DMX voices are so unique that it gets the crowd pumped and amped up. I'm listening to the ATCQ's last album right now, and the way that Busta came on Mobius is wild.
I don't remember the last rapper we heard who has like a crazy unique energy like the guys I mentioned lately.

Yea man, loud ass speaker playing an infectious beat with an act like the Ying Yang Twins acting more like a host then rappers is always a winning formula in the club. That shouldn’t necessarily have to define what Hip Hop is tho,the genre as a whole is just corny right now when in the past,at its essence,it use to represent progression, coolness and intelligence.
These new dudes just lack that s***,club bangers were always a thing in Hip Hop,that shouldn’t define the genre tho.
And yeah I also need a Future x Blue Note Records jazz project asap
Fewtch slides

I’d be down for that, itd be good if they’re picking the beats and its not mash up
Like Kodak Black on a 90s beat or Carti and Uzi on some 90s R&B hits would be hard asf. Or Dababy on a drill beat.
Y’all can’t deny this s*** below is hard. Artists really need to get out of their comfort zone for beats.
And yes this is lowkey a BLACCMASS thread lol
Thanks for sharing bro. I work hard on these.

Yea hip-hop was competitive asf. Now no one is really trying to one up the other person lyrically or flow wise. They just make whatever the label says is gonna make the most money

BLACCMASS the God himself
BLACCMASS the God himself
That is not blaccmass lol

Yep,I know people nowadays like to try and protect this era of rap and say the “past generation had this problem”and all that but, this really is the worst era in rap we’re in right now. And yes,it’s worse than the snap era because at least those dudes had a vision of what that music was suppose to be and weren’t proclaiming to be the best rapper at any time. It was fun music,it knew what it was.
Now,this s*** super controlled,Hip Hop has never been controlled like this. When Nas said Hip Hop was dead back then,he wasn’t talking about the genre,he was talking how labels were planning to fully takeover this s***,he seen the writing on the wall. Dudes like Lil Baby and DaBaby shouldn’t be in any top rapper discussion nowadays but here we are.
Being the best rapper or one of the best had so much more prestige back then because it meant you were co-signed by Hip Hop fans/Black people to speak on s*** and tell like it is. Now dudes getting props from silly kids, critics trying to stay in touch and way more white kids then ever before. Whole genre right now is the equivalent of a series box set of Empire sitting on the shelf at Walmart.
