Forums are dying out so the chances of this forum growing larger is very low. Social media has largely replaced forums in modern times. The best chance for survival of the KTT community in my opinion would be to stay on the original site which is much more popular. Also, when people type "ktt" into google they'll automatically be directed to that website. The typical casual isn't going to out of their way to search for KTT2.
Splitting the fanbase in halve just seems pointless. People are either going to migrate or retire/stay on ktt and be forced to retire.

The statistics say otherwise. Most people prefer social media because of it's ease of use and most of them cover cover all the features traditional forums have. KTT2 wont survive long with a fractured fanbase and no one even knows about it. I don't see how it's going to grow.
