    Feel like this was obvious.

People have their revisionist history about drake but he has been in a slump for years and he was still at the top. At his peak he could've done any show he wanted.

    So?

Most popular acts turn it down, as it kinda has that legacy stigma attached to it and you have to spend your own money to do it. So if you don't necessarily need the promo, you wouldn't do it

Only recent have more currently popping musicians been playing the show

Would’ve believed this if it didn’t come from this guy tbh

don’t they give a budget for the show and pay expenses?

To an extent they do but there are times where an artist's idea for their set is so extravagant that it goes over budget

    Apparently they do

No money for the artist however
    Social currency tho

Point being, I can imagine that anyone who's popping has gotten asked to do this, especially recently but for people like Swift, Adele, Drake, etc. I can see them saying no because

it's a big ask when you are

    1) Not being paid for the set
    2) Risking your reputation despite not being paid for it which will inevitably lead you to spend millions out of your own pocket to ensure that the show goes according to your vision. Especially someone like Drake who almost always goes over budget for his production.

I think people care more about this than Drake does. He doesn’t do usual artist things.

  • Sep 11, 2024

This isn’t about Drake though 😂

It wasnt only that. Im surprised how many people
have forgotten that PEPSI was the main sponsor of the Halftime Show for years and Drake had a Coke deal!!!

Coca-Cola owns Sprite so Drake couldnt do the halftime show until that Pepsi deal expired. When it expired Apple Music took over but atp Hov had already secured the deal to manage the halftime show.

I'm shocked at all these so called music journalists pretending not to know this information!
