Been jamming alot of Betty and yeah she was definitely the female James
She was incapable of missing the mark in 1972-1976.
dudes can't look inward like this anymore, they don't have a band that feels it too.... this album somehow had gong sound every other song and it felt right
kinda feel like D'angelo had this potential early on, maybe I'm tripping tho
They tried to make D'Angelo a s***symbol during voodoo and he wasn't feeling it

Perhaps James's most underrated album.
James Brown caliber is such a high bar that these youngins are better off just working out a new formula for themselves. In other words, we're cooked
they fell hard for that Silk Sonic slop
instead of sleeping while knxwledge argues on discord about people uploading his beats to youtube maybe he should make some real music!
He’s not an impressionable personality tbh
Not mad at this
I was just speaking about his influence sonically but overall there will never be another James Brown just like we will never see another MJ, Prince, Stevie, Aretha, Nina & onward
They left their marks for a reason
They tried to make D'Angelo a s***symbol during voodoo and he wasn't feeling it
I don't blame him

what the f*** is this

whole album like this?
might go run that right now
imagine if Prince dropped When Doves Cry today?
“Where the f*** is the bass ”
“Nigga always trying so hard to be different “
“We not listening to no music with no bass in it ”
I was gonna say ur tweaking but I never use bass and people are always asking me where the bass is granted im not prince so idk
Great thread as always @op i would’ve mentioned Erika de casier but this is a male problem I agree
Perhaps James's most underrated album.
its my favourite of his
nothing in the 70s was bad...

Yeah it really hard to imagine another Ray or James showing up and blazing a whole new trail like that
its my favourite of his

"Dead On It" and "Deep in It" are the only grooves I've ever come back to from that record, tbh.
