No, i've said it doesnt beat you over the head with its commentary like other recent hollywood horror, and that its a very feminist film and explained why i believe that. And ive just kept asking for explanations for the prominence of race from you using the most basic type of socratic method, and you've continually deflected and condescended like you've just done here.
But we agreed the cops are race/gender bent in line with the political moment and that it's not just "representation"?

You said the diverse cops were a factor in crushing white male patriarchy. I said they were a very predictable PR move in a new film that needs cops to be good guys.
If what you're saying now is that they are in line with the political moment, then yes I very much agree
I got the hbo. Without spoilers was this pretty dope? I havent read anything from this thread to avoid spoilers.

Yes its highly entertaining
watching this today
Probably the worst filmmaker to appear this century
If he makes another Midsommar you'd be right, but I do think he's one of the most overhyped/overrated though
Where rank it in wan movies ?
below insidious, saw, conjuring 1&2 but it's still dope
THE TWIST
For the first part of the movie I was like, why did test audiences hate this.
And then I was like oh this is why
This movie is so hard

All the posters and promo are sooo clever in teasing the movies plot
@elvis saw insidious
would rank it higher than the conjuring 2 but lower than malignant
You really didn't pick up on the social commentary? At all?
What was the social commentary???

Test audiences really are how we end up with awful horror movies
if there’s no jump scares they say it’s boring. Then when they add it it gets panned by critics.
He actually described it pretty well. It was gory, especially the end. It had a lot if Italian inspiration. And it was very camp. It also wasn't a screenplay with content mined from Twitter discussions or some uninspired brainlet film by Ari Aster
Yeah I was just going off of what a couple of people on Letterboxd said, more specifically Mike Thorn.

Yeah his review was good. But there are a lot of italian pseudo-tropes that will be obvious to giallo fans. Even the killers whole outfit looks like something straight out of those films tbh

While Aster has grown on me as this dorky psued who’s charmingly trying really hard, I totally agree with everything you’ve been saying in the thread.

Yeah lol and that pic of them in the criterion closet where aster is looking cringey and someone captioned it "when the cool kids invite you to their lunch table as a joke"
