Because they didn’t rush to make a Miles Morales live action film when Garfield Spider Man was flopping. It’s not the same situation and this wouldn’t be getting the same reaction if it was just an animated film

And there is no comparable black superhero to Spider Man available to the Marvel Universe like Icon is For DC

The Miles Morales movie came out like 7 years after he already put in work in the comics. When he was introduced, he got tons of hate from racist fanboys and "as a insert minority we don't need a black spiderman!" people. Miles persevered through all that and became very successful. This happens damn near every time a black person gets cast as a popular character. It most recently happened with Starfire from the titans.

He’s one of the big mainstream black scholars and journalist and has done a lot of work on big hit non fiction books.

And in the past 5 years hes been writing Black Panther for Marvel Comics then picked up Captain America

Coates writing on this is a big deal esp for black people even if it’s his first film. He has the skill set to be able to make a great screenplay. And I think the limitation of this being a 2 hour movie might help him compared to when he was writing years worth of comic storylines. Like the writing on this i doubt will be the worry
