Obviously the contract situation changes things, his market value might be closer to what Chelsea are asking for but not with 1 year left. Don't see Pool giving a better offer than 50+5, not their MO for a player that has evidently shown a preference for United, and Arsenal obviously off the table with Havertz transfer (they're comparing him to RVP lmao).
Hope United know the leverage they have in this, Chelsea getting them to pay 10m more in a face to face would be some top tier bullying

These Mount negotiations are ridiculous and he'd def be a good addition to our midfield, but we need to stop letting other clubs bully us with transfers. If we walk away and he isn't sold by August they might accept 50m

the guy wants us bad for some reason, I say put the money elsewhere on a better player and get him to sign a pre contract agreement for free next next year

I feel like i'm the only person ITT who really rates Mount.

I don't love the prospect of having to pay 60+ million for him when he's on the last year of his deal, but I don't think it's completely silly money in a way that many of our past deals have been.

Problem is we could easily get Mount for 50/55 if we walk away and come back near the end of the window, but then he got no preseason with us again

Also we need to be going after multiple players at a time, so we got some leverage. Chelsea know the only midfielder we’re after atm is Mount so they know we’ll come back regardless

I don't think Chelsea are necessarily in a position where they have to sell him. Plenty of players they would much rather offload first - and look likely to do so.

Plus the way they've done their transfers on these ridiculous contracts actually means much of their spending is spread over long periods. Short term cash flow doesn't seem to be an issue, in the way it is for us currently.

I imagine he's the type of player Poch rates. Probably fancies his chances at reintegrating him, doing well next season, and convincing him to stay on.
