It’s cus of their names and history + real has always a legitimate chance to win ucl every year. All players grew up watching Real and Barcelona, maybe not in the UK but every else they did especially Latin America

yeah the latin America angle is big for sure. la liga wasn't even on team here in Canada really. so many factors too, like the production quality of la liga match is s*** compared to PL. we treat Newcastle v Villa like a UCL knockout game in terms of coverage, fans, media, production crew, camera work etc. a

La Liga had the wanker that just yells gol 5000 times after barca/real score and every time you watch a game there its like they don't know anything except what barca/real are up to. and the knowledge of their commentary just low iq.

i get that South America has 'heritage' of all their Brazilians / Argentine guys playing for barca/real but f*** is it a snooze. financially their management tanked that league to be non competitive.

like the best part about PL is that there is no easy game. burnley v city was not a foregone conclusion. arsenal almost dropped points against a team that will likely fight relegation today. luton away is still not going to be easy.

just can't say that for all the other leagues. and its down to how we share profits collectively and have the entire football pyramid functioning.

whereas you turn on barca/real and you know they will have their arrogant swagger turned on, theyre going to flop around (maybe less now that the twat Busquet is gone), commentators will mostly talk about barca/real and everyone at the stadium is a closet barca/real fan too.

  • Aug 12, 2023

Never expected Isak to do so good tbh. Bro looked way too scrawny. Good for him tho, still love him/

same I was out on him, but he looks better this season. I missed the first half tho, sounds like its worth a rewatch

this what happens when you play that high line btw.

makes me terrified if this is how united gonna play now with onana. licha has no minimal pace. varane has some.

    but it will be

  • Aug 12, 2023

    Wasn't expecting that

He's so good, shame he's at a rival bc he'd be ideal for us

We will not be that high up. Villa just playing an naively high line against opponents this strength. Was the same at OT last season.

last point. like even small details, e.g. im going to now rewatch the Newcastle/villa game to catch the first half, and before the match starts, fubo or whoever the production company is - are running these mini docs about villa/Newcastle. simple. 5-10 mins. but just adds that heritage/intrigue / gives insight about the clubs you wouldn't normally know.

feel like other leagues just so far behind on how to build up compelling events and intrigue / story lines.

anyway fun first day, cheers to more.

this PSG team looks terrible. is ligue 1 gonna be competitive finally? skriniar that inter didn't want to keep, dunno who pereira is, vitinha/ugarte/zaire midfield sounds awful on paper, and a real reject + kang lee outside of Ramos. no wonder mbappe is dipping

yea they really ass this year without that front three

inter would have surely wanted to keep skriniar though if he didn’t already agree on personal terms with psg while still being an inter captain lol that was slimy as hell

zaire-emery is an exciting talent though but thats about it yeah

  • Aug 12, 2023

still dont think that there’s any other competent team in ligue 1 to give psg huge problems but yeah i would love to see marseille win it so much

u never know though lille managed to miraculously win it few years ago and lens was surprsingly strong last year too

is that what happened? well in that case, yeah inter are getting f***ed over all summer with this lukaku situation as well.
