if I like what I see ill call ETH and tell him Joao had an Ajax jersey as a kid

very composed, seems to be in the right spot at all times. wears his shorts high or his shirt too big or something idk he has a very distinct look. but his centre of gravity is elite. pretty similar to mainoo tbh. inter b team hes playing against here, but Joao is real deal.
and hes really strong for his size. composed with ball never gives it away.
It’s still early doors but is Onana the man for #1
It's giving Barthez with the random, almost comical mistakes

shirt is wayyyyyy too big for him. was he this error prone at ajax/inter? cause he's cost us like at least 5 goals so far, de gea was never this bad.
and its not like we're really playing out from the back either.
also I know its unpopular....but I thought Bruno had a solid game. obviously the goal is spectacular, and the usual assist for nacho was perfect too. but overall he was very involved in everything. two fouls to give away the free kicks but its not his fault we concede on set pieces so often.

There’s a lot of revisionism going on in regards to De Gea, I’m seeing it all over Twitter as well. There’s at least two or three league games last season that were directly lost because of him, and he’s pretty much single-handedly responsible for our bouncing out of Europa/not winning the FA Cup.
Then of course you have the Liverpool game, the City game, and the Brentford game, the latter being one of the worst GK performances I’ve ever seen, full stop.
This isn’t a defense of Onana, bad today, bad in other games as well… but De Gea absolutely was this bad, worse at times, and any legitimate shouts to bring him back are shameful.

agreed, onana just another flavour of de gea. both flawed and not good enough to challenge for trophies.
Being six points off top in November after missing roughly 60% of our first team for extended periods of time is a crazy W. If we beat Newcastle, I fear we officially in TITLE CHARGE SEASON!!!!

onana 4d chess. purposely knock us out of the CL to give us advantage in the title charge

I doubt onana even knows how to play checkers
Thought he set us up very well yesterday and barring Onana’s pathetic performance we beat them handily

Let’s be real, yeah we could have defended better and shown some composure after scoring but it’s hard to hide behind the fact Onana has single handedly cost us 4/5 maybe more goals in the CL. And bottom line when your GK is showing signs of being s*** it just stems through the team, de Gea got criticism for it so it’s only fair Onana gets the same
Scoring 3 goals anywhere should be enough to win you a game

Eth 100% won yesterday
Keeper let us all down

I think Ten Hag is reluctant to play out of the back without having his proper back four, but they have abandoned that tactic for most of the season so it does seem pointless to bring him in.

Some more stats that back up what we already knew. Alarmingly bad.
How many of the 7 are with us
One thing I don’t understand is why we haven’t given this Bayindir a chance, we made an effort to go and get him in the summer, he obviously has a style Hag liked, so why has he not even made an appearance in the efl cup or whatever, he is going to have to play next month anyway when Onana goes to afcon and he is going to have 0 experience with his team
How many of the 7 are with us
I think he's made like 4 so far in the CL this season? 2 last night, then that bad pass that led to case red/pen few matches back, then Bayern was a fiasco.
some other historian in this thread will know exactly.
