Btw who says this ashworth guy is any good? Looking at newcastles business last summer, they might have missed on every signing.

Ashworthâ specialty isnât necessarily recruitment and United want someone else to do recruitment.
He is coming to United as the general Football Director. What he does best is create and keep a competitive footballing culture at a club. Think of the âEngland DNAâ program he developed for the English youth teams. You need someone to have a vision for the whole club like that. To make it gel and to create a winning culture of top, top performers. Not an environment where say, a Rashford can drop his shoulders and drag his feet on the field any longer.
âBeyond transfers, Ashworth is well regarded for his ability to pull all departments of a club together and make sure they are moving in the same direction.â
This isnât John Murthough

I have no idea who they signed last summer tbh. They did some great business the years before tho
On Ashworth discussions: Itâs one of those areas of football that really irks me â both ways â when fans pretend that they have the faintest idea of what football directors do on a day to day basis.
We (as in us fans) have no real idea other than the fact heâs extremely coveted and well respected within the profession.
Iâm sure he has appropriate credentials, otherwise we wouldnât be pressing so hard for him and nor would Newcastle be attempting to hold us to ransom for his appointment.
But when fans go OTT about how amazing a sporting director would be (or vice versa) â theyâre just chatting out of their ass and have no idea either way.
Letâs fake out Liverpool and make them go for Southgate and the England coaching staff like Pep used to do with our transfer targets.

I agree on the day-to-day micro level, we have no clue
But you can infer a general sense of what they bring from their previous jobs, projects and interviews
Watching this on holiday but why do our socials and the bbc not have the lineups already? I swear theyâre usually up an hour before the game?

Kick off is at 8pm mate expecting line ups in 5 min
Also f*** Wolves for not showing up for this Villa game
No one showed for us today
Chances get slimmer as the weeks go on

Mate, 10 games left, 9/6 behind Spurs, 12/9 behind Villa depending on tonightâs result. If Spurs werenât supreme bottlers Iâd say itâs out of sight.
If they both dropped points today itâd be a lot more interesting.

Mainoo/McTominay midfield is kinda wild imo, especially when theyâve got 5 in midfield and are clearly packing it out.
