disappointing cause we shouldve won? that was a perfect performance - vintage Ferguson type of Anfield set-up this is what we did every time we won a title.
Ferguson? Ay I’m all for Oke but this is a disgrace compared to Fergie. That United dominated, played football and was a joy to watch. This United draws against a injured Liverpool by defending for 90 minutes. Its the right thing to do and it’s working, but it’s no where near that United. Calm down with these comparisons
Shaw MOTM
2nd Maguire
3rd Lindelof
agreed. thought pogba was good too had some really nice control in tight spots. bit lazy in first half but put in a shift 2nd half

its typical Ferguson he always set up this way against liverpool away and we never won with him at Anfield either but it was the mentality for all big away performances

Yeah Pogba was very good, but that chance he had

He adjusted but didn’t defend like this. Ferguson still build on his own strength instead of being afraid by the opponent.
btw we played way better with cavani in the middle. now hes not the only reason (tired liverpool + liverpool more desperate to get a result), but we should really be starting with cavani up top and make rashford/martial be on outside. I bet we score with a full 90 minutes of cavani
I disagree 'we were saved by firmino finishing'. they didnt create a single clear chance while we created 2 substantive chances. first half sure it was shaky, but we defended like animals and were very disciplined.
im fine with that performance+result. do the same against city/chelsea, and thats title winning mentality.
They didnt create clear cut chances I agree. But I dont think that was as much due to our defence being really organized so much as it was their final pass lacking and their forwards being out of sync.
We're up against Henderson and Fabino in defence. They'll be going home feeling relieved that was so comfortable. At some point we gotta show we can get the 3 points in these games. It was only a month ago we had the league game againt City where they were well off the pace and again we didn't capitalise. And just a few games later we saw we can barely touch them when they are truly at their best. What does that say? Our best side can just about hold out for a draw against your worst. It hardly breeds optimism in my mind.
Missed opportunity to take 3 points
Very much so. I wonder if Ole and maybe even the players have PTSD from that Spurs battering — we’ve gone from really showing up in these big games to sitting out low scoring games.

The major positive is we are still first (City aside).
The major issue at the moment is not a single one of our attackers look to be in form at the minute. Rashford continuously makes bad decisions, Cavani looks a threat with his movement but nothing really seems to be happening, and Martial just looks very low on confidence generally.
Maybe Greenwood (or Diallo) can step up and stick a rocket up their arses in the same way Telles has done for Shaw.

im gone off that optimism juice today. let me have my top of the league feeling for another few weeks

Didn't look close to scoring vs Chelsea, City (2x) and Arsenal at home, battered by Spurs and now this. 3/15 points in those games, most of them at home. Ole's got to look at his approach cause this isn't working.
Very glad to see Ole's post-match comments don't reflect contentment with the performance.
"We didn't deserve the three points because we didn't play well enough. We didn't impose ourselves on the game, especially first half. We grew in the game and thought it was there to win in the second half and created two massive chances. We can play better than this, we know that. We can be more composed; we can have the ball more. We had to defend really often, and we gave the ball away too often. A couple of things we need to improve on. I've got to be honest and say I'm disappointed at the moment. With the injuries they have had lately, you want to come here and get a result. We didn't, but a point might be OK if we win the next one."
Spot on. Cant turn up like that for our biggest game of the season so far.

Ole took a look at this thread to determined how to react. smart move by him

Spot on with the strikers, none of them are looking title winning Calibre or even world class for that matter
United gonna need to win at least 5 of the next 6 to keep pace with City imo. One of them Ws needs to be Arsenal too, if you can't beat them jabronies you're not going anywhere

Arteta has our number recently that Lego headed b******
I miss Telles so much.. One of the best players we've had in the last 10 years
But Shaw is knocking it out of the park..
the premier league, serie a, and la liga title races are fantastic this year. great stuff all around, wish we had fans in the stadium to experience this.

Entertainment wise it truly is, but I’m gonna be devils advocate here. I think if you’re a manager right now you’re sick of it. The schedule is so tight for the European Cup all teams have to deal with a lot of injuries and with COVID infections in your squad. That impacts the quality of the game pretty big. If you see how many points all big teams spilled its extreme. I wonder how that will work out during summer with the tournament

yeah - this is more of the 2000's performances where things were more even and less disparity between the top clubs and the rest. like right now united are on pace for low 80s in points, which is pretty typical for most of the united title winning sides with performances picking up 2nd half. overall for league quality is down due to schedule/injuries/covid, but quality is being offset by it at least being a closer race among the top 4-6.
for euros, as a ticket holder for the quarter-final (where if things go as expected it'll be England for my ticket), im just hoping we get this vaccine stuff under control by June to allow fans.
City will have their tough fixtures too, just look at their February fixtures, all we have to do is keep up the pace and we’ll be thereabouts, 75-80 points will have us there until the end, I believe we can achieve that.

The Euros are going to be a clusterfuck
the amount of football these players will play in such short time is mental
